Sunlit Sunday in Kentucky

Sunlit Sunday in Kentucky

How wonderful to go just outside your backdoor and be able to shoot  photos like this.
Every year I just so look forward to the blooms on the pear tree ....

.....on the Weeping willow....

.....and the rhododendron.

Makes me want to write a haiku

Spring blooms in my yard,
swaying in a gentle breeze,
what I need today.

I was wondering why the leaves on my rhododendron are so dark purple.
Did a little research and that bush gets sunlight from sunrise to about 2PM.
That seems to be the answer.

Go here and join other sunlit beauties.

Old tree, new tree, there is nothing like a tree

Sepia Saturday
For August 20th 2011
I don't usually remember to check Alan's blog for a possible theme but I did today.

Trees
Not an old tree, but a new tree planted in 1998 when we purchased this property.
It shades our private swing site,
Our place.
A Silver Maple which deposits all kinds of whirly thingies in the spring.
Our SIL is a Construction Contractor and he gifted us with our first 4 trees.
Brought them here, planted them and we were tickled but would not have chosen this tree if we had gone to the nursery.

Who would turn down four free trees?
It is a worrisome thing with all those whirly thingies coming down, according to HH.
I love it.
The other tree we did purchase and it is an Aristocrat  Pear.

No shade is as beautiful as the shade from a tree.

What in the world did I get myself into?

Doing my own thing day.

I love doing the ATC swap card each month so I signed up for The Spring Magic Wand Swap.

A group of bloggers who are just as into the magic of creativity as I am.
Of course I am saying magic with tongue in cheek because it is a little impish and spritey.
Well I put on my Fidgit Elfglimmer hat and set to work.
I gathered up some things I had I wanted to work with.
These tiny colored beads would look good, if I could see
well enough to get them strung on a piece of thread.

First they had to be separated into 4 different colors.
I could only see 2 colors.
Okay pink and pearl would do.

Magnifying glass and tweezers.
Well I got the pearl ones strung.
Only took about an hour.
Long slender needle that I could hardly see to thread, but once I got the little buggers stabbed I was able to slide them on.

Wow that was hard.
Maybe that was not such a good idea.

Gotta look for something else.

Well that is where I stopped.
Will have to look for some more stash to work this one out.

Surely this veteran of years of Halloween, play costumes, proms and dance dresses could come up with a
Magic Wand.

Well we will see next week on Doing My Thing Day.

Had an invitation to visit a lovely lady's blog yesterday for a giveaway.
She is very creative and that I need for inspiration.
Go over and check out her post of 4/10/2011 and look at all the beautiful things.
