Mosaic Monday a walk for joy

Mosaic Monday

Friday I took a walk after I had finished my volunteer hours at my appointed place and what joy in all I saw around.
The squirrels under the trees.
Chasing each other.
Ornamental grasses near the lake in the field.
The Blue skies peeking through.
What a beautiful day to be grateful for safe places to walk and enjoy nature.

Old tree, new tree, there is nothing like a tree

Sepia Saturday
For August 20th 2011
I don't usually remember to check Alan's blog for a possible theme but I did today.

Trees
Not an old tree, but a new tree planted in 1998 when we purchased this property.
It shades our private swing site,
Our place.
A Silver Maple which deposits all kinds of whirly thingies in the spring.
Our SIL is a Construction Contractor and he gifted us with our first 4 trees.
Brought them here, planted them and we were tickled but would not have chosen this tree if we had gone to the nursery.

Who would turn down four free trees?
It is a worrisome thing with all those whirly thingies coming down, according to HH.
I love it.
The other tree we did purchase and it is an Aristocrat  Pear.

No shade is as beautiful as the shade from a tree.

Doing my thing day and Adventure Express

Doing my thing day.

Continuing the items that I am making out of plarn for the summer picnic for the SCN mission work.

Plarn beach bag
 A second beach bag.

Have been using various colors that I don't have much of.
I like the variety of colors.

Both of these bags will have some beach toys in them.

Practice, practice, practice.

Second of three teapots

in a
series, from art class.

 Adventure Express

There is a most beautiful park just a few miles
from my house that I go to a couple of times a week.

Bernheim Forest

A shot of the Quiet Garden from across the lake.
There are miles of walking and biking paths under shade tress.
All the trees are labeled and marked and there is every species of flower.

I was there for a visit today.

Creative Tuesday #36=Trees

Creative Tuesday

For some time I have been trying to learn
Zentangle art.

Here is my tree themed CT for today.
Looks like I got a lot to learn.
Zentangle is done with sharp pens.
This was done with extra fine Sharpie.
If this is new to you,

Friday Shoot Out

Friday Shoot Out

So today's theme is

What is your town is thankful for.

Well I know what my town is thankful for but since it rained for three days here and the two days I was in town I was unable to get any shots due to the rain and snow.
We are so tired of sights like the above.
All of our beautiful trees in the downtown area were removed and it was rumored they would not be replaced.

A look at our down town with all the former trees,
Columnor sugar maples.

We are all grateful the work is finished and all the new
trees,
Frans Fontaine European Homebeams are in place.
I share the above video with you until I can get new shots of the Downtown Revitalization Project.
