A mistake

I did not have any idea this had been published.
My daughter sent this from Hilton Head and I put it on here to see it better.
LOL
I believe it is a Bloody Mary too.

Friday Shoot out- My town in black and white

This week's theme is my town in Black and White.

This sign will greet you as you enter the city limits.

You may be sayshaded around town by
Jonsie in his
Around the Town Carriage Service.
He tells you all about the town also.

St. Joseph Protocathedreal.
The first Catholic cathedral west of the
Alleghenies.

Tabott Tavern
Early stagecoach stop on the only road south.
Jessie James and gang left their marks (bullet) inside one of the hallways.

The towers of St. Vincent Church on the
Sister of Charity campus at Nazareth.

Not on Jonsie's carriage ride but the alley behind the old jail.
One of my favorite haunts for great photos.

Fine bridge to one of the finest homes in town.

A new industry just outside the city limits.

Sad looking corn field within the city limits.
Very dry summer.

Contentment- One word Wednesday

One Word Wednesday

Contentment
to me is
A feeling of having done a good job.
Appreciating what God has blessed me with, good or bad.
Knowing what and who is important in my life.
Relaxing in my comfy socks and sweats.

Go to Grandmas Briefs and share with her.

If you are a blogging Grandma this is the group for you.

Out into the work force.

Well out in the work force.
Doing pretty good.
Have had two elderly gentlemen clients to care for.
Had been told they were hard to work with.
Did not find that to be the case.
I have been a caregiver for many years.
I know what goes on her folks lives with they have to be cared for, or have to be the caregiver.

Not a lot of time to play on my computer theses days but that is okay.
I feel more useful and yet I know I have limitations myself.
TLC is the biggest thing I have to give these folks.
I betcha I can do that.
I am creating a new experience in my golden years.

8th and final Nazareth Summer Picnic

Gospel, John 6:60-69

60 After hearing it, many of his followers said, 'This is intolerable language. How could anyone accept it?'
61 Jesus was aware that his followers were complaining about it and said, 'Does this disturb you?
62 What if you should see the Son of man ascend to where he was before?
63 'It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh has nothing to offer. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
64 'But there are some of you who do not believe.' For Jesus knew from the outset who did not believe and who was to betray him.
65 He went on, 'This is why I told you that no one could come to me except by the gift of the Father.'
66 After this, many of his disciples went away and accompanied him no more.
67 Then Jesus said to the Twelve, 'What about you, do you want to go away too?'
68 Simon Peter answered, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the message of eternal life,
69 and we believe; we have come to know that you are the Holy One of God.'

This is the word of the Lord,
Praise be his name.

Yesterday Aug 25, 2012 was the 8th and last summer picnic at
Nazareth Motherhouse.

I have been involved all 8 years and have enjoyed it so much.
It is a lot of hard work.
Sisters, associates, friends and many of the local town folk help to make this a wonderful experience.
But the sisters are ultimately responsible for the picnic and it is getting beyond their capacity to carry it off.
We will all miss the experience of seeing folks for all over the world who come back for this homecoming.
All of the items I made for the Country Store sold.
I was bidding on a beautiful painting and frame but it went beyond what I was prepared to pay.
That is okay.
It is for a great cause for sure.

Sepia Saturday. The Wedding Day

The Wedding Day

Evan Hagan Parrott and Elizabeth Noe
June 21, 1938

Shyne Parrott as he was called was related to my maternal grandmother by way of the Mc Intire family.
Elizabeth Noe was related to the family of Nancy Hanks who was the mother of Abraham Lincoln.
This photo of Elizabeth Noe reminds me so much of my mother.

The bride's bouquet looks like it may have been made using flowers growing around the house in the background.

It was a summer wedding as we can see by the clothes and the date.

Favorite place to go on vacation-Friday Shoot Out

Theme for FSO this week is
My favorite place to go on vacation.

Daughter's backyard.

 Kyaking in Bermuda

On the ferry to Dolphin Quest in Bermuda where we swam with the Dolphins.

This was by far my grandest vacation.
Swimming with the Dolphins in
Bermuda with our daughter.
My most favorite of any vacation we have ever taken.

 Gulf Shores Alabama

With daughter, gdaughter and SIL on the Gulf of Mexico in search of dolphins.

It took a lot of snapping to get these few shots.
They move fast.
They were following a scrimping boat.

I prefer vacationing in the south, especially in the Gulf of Mexico but always manage a water adventure whereever we are.

Where is HH in these photos.
He will not fly so unless we drove to Destin or Gulf Shore he did not go.
So he did not go to Bermuda.
He lost out.

Entering the world of the work force, again-Thursday Share the joy

Well this has been quite a whirlwind of a week.
I took a job.
I have missed parts of working ever since I retired.
Mainly have extra money for special things.
When I retired at 70 I was working one 8 hour day a week as an Intake Nurse at a home health agency.
Wonderful pay and I loved the work.
I would probably sill be working today at 75 if my job had not been taken into the city.
So ever since I left that job I have been wanting to find something that would pay me for a few hours a week.
I took a job with a company, Visiting Angels, on a PRN basis.
That means when they need me. I can take it or not.
I did not want a set job or certain hours.
They do private duty in the home.
It is like a sort of float position.
Someone always needs a day off.
I would have the privilege to take the case or not.
Well I was scheduled to start on Friday of this week and work Friday, Monday and Tuesday during the day.

One of the caregivers on another case lost her dad and her mother had a stroke so the owner needed a one time overnight replacement.
Would I be willing to do it?

No orientation.

Just a job right out of the box.
12 hours overnight with an elderly gentleman recovering from surgery.
Nothing heavy just someone needed in the home with him at all times.
I knew the gentleman, and he was a fine gentleman, and we had a most pleasant evening taking and laughing until midnight.
Needless to say I did not sleep as he had to get up several times during the night.
No hard work just 12 hours with no sleep.
I slept all day the next day when I got home.
I awoke this morning with a feeling of JOY that I had passed the test of :do I really want to do this?
The good thing is since we agreed to PRN position I can take or turn down a job.
With some patience and God's help
I am gonna give it a try.
The JOY of caring for other and the added JOY of a paycheck.
Can't beat that.

The Party for the day

The AC is turned off and the weather is ideal.
Although it is predicted to again return to high temps gotta love while it is nice.

The Lantana is a plant I have not used for several years.
But I did use it this year and it has given us days of beauty.

 Lovely on the patio

A chipper bouquet for the kitchen window

A nice pattern for my next canvas.

When looking up info about this flower it said to cut it back about now and it will bloom until it gets very cold and it there is no sunshine.
Sounds like me
I don't like it much either when it gets cold and there is no sunshine. LOL

So lets make hay while the sun shines.
