Share the Joy Thursday. Fall days

What a wonderful time is fall.
The temps get lower making it more comfortable
to be outside.

Our Most Beautiful Small Town in Kentucky
has something going on almost every week-end.

This past week-end was the annual
Arts, Crafts and Antiques Fair.

It had been a tradition for several years for myself, my daughters and granddaughters to attend together.

Several years ago I had not felt like attending.
Since beginning to feel better, I attended last year but it rained.
This year it was perfect.

And today

This little princess is 18 today.
Ellen

Love her to the moon and back.

Looks like someone else does too.

Macro shot of Pink Peppermint Share the JOY

Spent a beautiful day with my daughter by her pool.
Just a JOY to spend time with loved ones.

So glad to feel the sunshine and warmth of our spring and summer weather.
Flowers can bloom and I can take photos of them.

Share the JOY Thursday

Those of your who follow my blog know we have
7 beautiful granddaughters so you may see one of them on my post at any time.

We all have such a great relationship and have so much fun together.

I mention the girls so often since we only have 3 boy
grands.
Don't get to spend as much time with them as the girls.

Such JOY is being a grandparent.

Sweet Abby modeling the new hat she and her brother gave me for Christmas.
She is constantly doing something to make me laugh.
She is going to make a great nurse.

Her brother, Ben and his friend Megan watching me model my new hat Abby gave me with the scarf Ben gave me.

We are so blessed to have these precious grands in our lives.
JOY beyond words.

Share the JOY

The JOY of being parents, then grandparents and now greatgrandparents.

Readers of my blog know the first great grandchild, due in January, was born the last week of December.

Graham Harrison Delk
 precious as he can be.

The second great grandson is due in April to our grand Nikki and Iian.

Our granddaughter Nikki painted these two coffee cups for HH and I.
Great grandfather
Great grandmother
for Christmas 2013.

What JOY these great grands will bring to us can only be imagined.
We are so grateful for all the years we have had together to get to this, the beginning of the
4th generation of our family.
Established April 23, 1960.

Giving at Christmas in other's names.

Such a hectic time in lots of folks lives these days.
Did not do my usual gift making project.
Donated money to a new ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in India in all my family members names.
A new ministry to break the cycle of sex workers raising their daughters to the same life they live.

The new home named
Asha Kiran
(Ray of Hope)

is for the daughters of the city's sex workers.
The sisters worked very hard to be able to, with consent of mothers. to take these girls to educate, house and teach a better life style.

The hard work was to break the influence of the bosses of the workers.

It gives me much JOY to be part of this great work of the congregation of sisters.

These Nandina berries give me such JOY to have to decorate for Christmas.

Meri, have you seen
The Last Keepers?
A movie about living with nature.

JOY of preparing for a new family member, 2 great grandsons

Those of you who read my blog know that 2 of our granddaughters are expecting babies early in 2014.

We knew the one due in January was a boy.

We now know the one due in April is also a boy.

So I was able to finish the trim on my second Christening outfit.

Shawl, cap and booties.

The light was not good when I took these photos.

 In a better light.

I loved making these.
Such JOY in making them for someone you love and the happiness of a new baby cannot be beat.

Since I loved making these, I am going to make up several more and have them ready for the next baby to come along.
After all 10 adult grandchildren will probably provide a few more great grands.

Share the JOY. -The endless JOY of grandchildren.

Have not been feeling well this week.

Looking for something to give me a JOY jump and came upon this photo of 5 of our precious grands.

on the left Hannah, Ben, Ellen,Thomas and Holly.
These are all the teens and they like to be together as a group and let the adult grands, of which there are 5
hang with the adults.

When I see their photos or when I am with them my JOY is unboundless.

We have so much to talk about. We have always been close to these children and it is as if we are still having fun.
Remembering fun and/or silly things we did together.
We used to dress up at Halloween and we would tailgate at our local church parking lot.
As long as I have them I will never grow old.

Love you guys and gals.
Thank God for these precious gifts.

Fashion and a donation too makes for 2 fold JOY

Yesterday I posted about my new dress form that came in the mail and how long I have been trying to buy one that was not so pricey.

Well, later in the day I received another item that I had ordered and am happy to be able to display it on my new dress form.

I absolutely love this sweater jacket.
I do not like a heavy coat on when driving and
wa lah found this extra yarn from an old project.
Probably just enough to make a neck warmer with.

I am pleased with my purchases of the dress form and the sweater but the real JOY that I feel comes from the fact that I bought the jacket from the
Cancer Store.
It is handmade and of course part of the proceeds go to fund research for cancer.
Everyday Facebook has items for sale from many of the research fund sites.

Also mailed my Pink Scarf Project off to Vickie today.
JOY from joining in a handmade item for cancer patients in northern Kentucky.

Share the JOY. Making friends with the critters in our backyard

I always love doing the Thursday Share the JOY
linky party.

I have always been very active.
Completely retiring at age 70, 5 years ago, I thought how will I ever be satisfied to not be involved in all the activities my job offered me.

Meeting, planning and helping to make my home health agency the best in the area.

HH is a real nature lover. Preferring to  spend every evening sitting among our numerous spreading trees with critters running or flitting around the bird feeders.

He likes to go play cards with his buddies during the day and I spend most of my time blogging, painting, crocheting or painting.
But I have found that I am also content sitting on our patio watching the critters in the evenings.

Don't miss the hustle and bustle of getting to work on time or having to work late to stay on deadline.

We don't have many squirrels but this one is a regular.
We call him or her Flash, because it moves so fast.

Oh the JOY of the backyard.
Such blessings we have in our Golden Years.

Will have to admit it took a lot of profound thinking, on my part, to realize I did not need or want that hustle and bustle any more.
Meri has taught me so much about appreciating the simple joys of life and consequently gratefulness for things around that are gifts of nature

Joy at the new blooms on the geranium.

Wishing you all JOY for the coming week.

Share the JOY Thursday

Many of my JOY shots have been of flowers and nature.
I get a lot of JOY just wandering around my yard and waiting and watching for certain bushes and flowers to bloom and to catch sight of the creatures that like to habitat them.

My white Butterfly Bush has fully bloomed and on
Wednesday got this shot of a
Black swallowtail butterfly.
At least that is what I think it is.
The angle I shot this almost obliterated the colors on the lower wings but what ever species it is
I take such JOY and feel much gratitude that God has blessed us with such beauty right in our own
backyard.
