Magpie Tales #54

Magpie Tales

Willow's prompt

Give It Up

Each day the sun comes out and stays
Maybe one minute, maybe ten
Then fades away.
The clouds are unwavering in their fight to
keep her hidden.
Sometimes gray, sometimes black.
The wind is on the side of the sun.
Pushing shoving to move them to another place.
Sticking little prickles in them trying to drain them of their load.
Get it over with.
Pour out the rain, the snow.
Get it over with.
Can't you see the earth is praying, begging for sunshine.
The people are tired, discouraged.
Winter was long and harsh like a uncaring landlord
not caring there is no work or money coming in.
The earth begs for the sun, to turn things to production again.
The crops, the people themselves need you so bad.

Very nice! Love the tug and pull, fighting for the sun... and especially like the ending lines.

Powerful thoughts, deep wishes of so many.

Nice poetic devices in this one. I especially like the uncaring landlord simile.

Can you imagine how antsy I am getting up here?

I hope the pleas are heard for sunshine and warmth again. This is such a timely poem.

I am amazed at how much the sun effects my mood. I like your shamrocks - I'm a St. Patty's day baby.

Yes please, you are so right. Sun is needed badly, for every bit of life there is.

Ready for spring?
Faith tells it it will come as we scan the ground and trees for evidence.

The earth begs for the sun

At this time of year, it sure does!

Like an uncaring landlord. I love that, QMM.

It sounds like your sick of winter and we are in the middle of a heatwave. Daytime temps of 34-38C and it's not dropping below 24C at night.
Love the way you've expressed it all.
