FSO-Childhood pleasures

Theme
 Pleasures of childhood

Dreaming about when I grow up.

I grew up around horses and could not wait to be able to ride.
Ride I did and fell off backwards and broke my coccyx
(tail bone) the very first time.
I kept on riding for a long time.

These are our sons horses and our little grandson with aspirations of being a cowboy.

Sepia Saturday #102 Then and Now and a special birthday

Sepia Saturday

Alan's SS entry is full of visuals to stir up memories.

That is what SS is all about, no matter the age of the photo.

While shooting photos yesterday at Thanksgiving feast I remembered this old photo and how a 30 year old photo has a lot of memories and changes associated with it.

This was taken for our family photo for our church directory in 1981.

Our oldest son had just left Ky. for his new career with IBM in Kingston, N.Y.

Yours truly, way before she was QMM, Beth, Tom,
Rachel, Julia, John and Jennifer.

Yes, can't fool you, I did sepialize (?) this photo, but it was very pale and had lots of blemishes on the paper anyway.

Now speaking of memories.
This photo empathizes how blessed we are in being able to gather for special holidays.

We all know how blessed we are.

You may want to join in.

Happy Birthday
No #1 son is 50 today.

High School graduation 1978

I have been able to see much of the other side of the world through this  son's eyes.
He has quite a travel portfolio.
He loves art and literature and travel.
He knows what I like and always has just the right photos to bring back to relate his experiences with me.
He and his best friend traveled inside Russia back in the cold war days and were able to go places where most people were not allowed to go.

We love you Thomas Dwight.

Magpie Tales #42

Magpie Tales #42

Not Just a Memory

I filled the cup with grains of sand I found along the shore.
Just a silly souvenir of a carefree time we will see no more.
Memories of running along the shore were just a  thing we did then. No running for us these days.
Our legs are weak, our backs are strained.
Life has a way of gradually stealing all that you have to give.
With no thought of giving back for duty beyond the call.
We gave it all for the zest of life and now we have only sands in a cup and memories that no one would even believe.
Life doesn't allow for revitalizing by the time you reach our age.
But our souls don't need the souvenir or memories of another time, we have each other's hand to hold and the feel of that golden band, and
the tiny Christmas tree, with twinkling lights, on our table.

Thangsiving and birth month memories

Thank God things are getting better here.
The shoulder that was taped has been pain free, except for some positions.
I am amazed at that.
I have never seen tendinitis of the shoulder treated that way.
I do remember seeing one of the Olympic volleyball champs playing with a taped shoulder.
Back is slower to mend but I can sit longer periods of time now.
This is no new beast to me.
I will conquer it.

Birth month memories.

Oh, to be 60 again.

Surprise party in 1997.
Family members from near and far were there.
I was totally surprised and couldn't keep back the tears of appreciation.

Of course all the grands were excited.

Silk scarf from India.
They all know what I like.

Who would have thought 60 would ever mean young to me. LOL
Well younger anyway.
I am in pretty good shape (for 73) for the shape I am in.
HoHoHo Chrissy.

Since I have missed most of my favorite memes this week,
I am hooking up with VTT for today.
Go here for some good reading.
