Thanksgiving Challenge Day 1.

Today is the beginning of Leah's Thanksgiving Challenge.

When thinking about my journey through life, especially in November, my thoughts are influenced by the fact that I was born two days after Thanksgiving Day on the 27th of November in 1937, a Saturday. Thanksgiving Day was on the 25th that year. Every seven years my birthday is on Thanksgiving day.
OOps forgot to mention, our 1st child, a son, was born in 1961 on the 26th of November.
One day before I was 24 years old.
We can hardly believe he will be 50 this year.

I am so thankful for the family that I was born into and the faith and values that I was raised with.

Born into two families as the very first grandchild I know how spoiled I was.
But I was not pampered. The values of faith and integrity were always foremost in all my families dealings and daily modeling to me.

Hope

Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

Romans 5:1

Let us rejoice and be glad.

Magpie Tales #43

Magpie Tales
Willow's prompt

Love Shows.

I eased inside the door.
He was already at our regular spot.
I couldn't wait to feel his warm hand on my cold face.
He had a tear in his eye.
I could see he tried to wipe it away.
Why the tear, I had asked.
I thought you may not come he said and took my hand in his.
Why would I not come I asked, I said I would be here.
I know he said but the snow is so deep I thought you may not make it.
I would hike, swim, ski. I would walk forever to be with you.
Would you walk with me the rest of your life, he asked, as my wife.
I had a tear in my eye.
I tried to wipe it away.
Why the tear he asked.
I thought you would never ask.

VTT -a different take.We could take some lessons and happy birthday one special girl.

Just a little different take on
Vintage Thingie Thursday

What I and millions of others have seen on the TV these last few days, holds enough messages and examples to give the whole world a swift kick in the a--.
The faith, comradery, courage, and organization was amazing.
So many times when we have a bad day and hurt innocent bystanders with our words or actions we want to blame it on
"I'm just under a lot of stress right now."
How much more stress can one endure than to be trapped many, many feet below the surface of the earth?
No one came out mad, angry, blaming others and I think that is due to the organization and planning that went into this project.
Yes a project, just like we are assigned at work or at school or in our own homes.

I so thank God for the safe return of the miners and continue to pray that the world will see what an opportunity is on display here to encourage us to  turn our own lives around.

Yes I will do that for a few days, being human, but in a week or two I will be back to my old nagging, whinny ways again.
Guess I better pray for myself to see the light.

Magpie tales #34

Willow's
Magpie Tales
Prompt

So Cold

There is nothing so cold as a lamp
without a flame, for warmth and light,
without a wick to deliver the fuel,
without  fuel to feed it...

...unless it is a
soul without faith to warm and light it,
without hope to carry the fuel,
without love to feed it.

Added note.

Went over to link with willow and found out I missed the ball. Boo Hoo Hoo. But it sounded wonderful.
Miss Margaret and Mr. Tom will make sure we get there next year. All those folks and friends we made last year and all the wine and food we missed. So sad.
The winds of old age keep blowing our flames out.
Got to stay on watch.
