Personal Photo Challenge-Lake Niven at Bernheim Forest Abotorium

Theme today is
water.

Beautiful Lake Nevin in
Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest.
About 10 miles from my home.
A wonderful place to picnic, ride bikes, walk the trails and visit nature in all it's glory.
Was able to get this shot with my zoom lens. No photoshop done here.
I particularly like the reflections in this shot.

This was shot at the Marina at Beaver Lake as we were leaving the lake.
The boat is where my brother and his wife live.
WE rode in the boat for sigh seeing but my brother and wife will fish at night til early a.m.
I love the sun on the trees in the distance as it is close to dusk.
Again I like the reflection for the balance it gives the photo.

Friday Shoot my town.- What is an Arboretum and Research Forest

The theme this week is be a tour guide and show us around your town.
I have featured all the things in my town that are well known and tourist attractions so I am going to take you on a tour just a few miles outside my town but on the official
"Fabulous Places to Visit."

We are going to head west of our town and follow the highway for about 15 miles to

Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is a 14,000 acre (57 km²) arboretum, forest, and nature preserve located in Clermont, Kentucky (25 miles south of Louisville, Kentucky, United States).
Bernheim was founded in 1929 by Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, a German immigrant and successful brewer whose whiskey distillery business established the I.W. Harper brand. He purchased the land in 1928 at $1 an acre because most of it had been stripped for mining iron ore. The Frederick Law Olmsted landscape architecture firm started work on designing the park in 1931 and it opened in 1950. Bernheim Forest was given to the people of Kentucky in trust and is the largest privately owned natural area in the state. Bernheim, his wife, daughter, and son-in-law are buried in the forest.

There have been many times when I have seen these geese take after my children when we used to take them there as children.
Of course there is a sign saying not to feed them but you know kids.

Mr and Mrs. Bernheim are buried here
Many weddings take place here.
It faces the west and you can imagine the evening sky at sundown in the background.

Preserving the old, old trees.

All the art at the forest is of natural materials.

This is brand new at the forest.
The most amazing thing I have ever seen.

You are lucky I just had to stop uploading.
I took 138 photos at this beautiful place.
Although the entrance is 12 miles from my house most of the forest land circles back eastward and much of it is in the distance behind our house.

Go here to visit some more towns.
