A Soulful Life- Seeing hope and growth in this Japanese Maple

A Soulful Life Friday

"I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has been enough"
Nicholas Sparks.

The Notebook

Marriages are not made in heaven, but looking up at the new leaves of this Japanese Maple, through our kitchen window, helps remind us that a good marriage on this earth takes reaching for the heavens.

We planted this tree in 2000 in honor of our 40th wedding anniversary.

It is beautiful and represents to us the beauty and growth of our marriage.

With a lot of stretches and strains over the years.

Our 56 wedding anniversary is in a few days and we are so grateful we are still together.

What a wonderful post. Your analogy of The Maple and marriage is so true and reminds me, too, how strong a marriage can be with hard work! Thank you!
