JOY from past Halloweens

We don't do trick or treat at our house anymore.
The ways trick or treat is handled in our town anymore have changed things a lot.

Church groups have Trunk or Treat in the parking lots, the larger grocery stores have it in their parking lot and we have no little tykes to even do it any more.
I miss seeing them in there cute little costumes.
Our JOY comes from looking at photos of past Halloweens and remembering the fun we had.

1992 Little Nikki in her devil outfit.
She was about 3 and thought she was the Bee's Knees.
Here she is playing with the devil's tail.

Now she is a beautiful 24 and expecting her first baby.
One of 2 great grands we are expecting in early 2014.

One of the JOYs of our life.

The other day Nikki told me
"QMM you will soon be
Queengreatgrandmamaw."

Winter is coming but my flowers are blooming, inside that is.

Can't believe what my geraniums I brought in look like.
They are making me happy.
The sun shines in this side of our house all day.
The calla lily has 6 blooms now.

Don't know how long these will last but having blooms in the house in winter makes for a less deary season.

Grand Social

Love fall, don't care for winter, but I do like living in an area of the country where we have a good sampling of all 4 seasons.

Just have to recognize the beauties of the season.

It is getting colder now and most flowers are gone.

These Hydrangea have been brought inside to a cool place, hung upside down and when I can shake them and they are completely dry, I will spray with a fixative and use for winter bouquets.

Last year's dried Hydrangea used at Christmas time.

Now the winter time pretties are coming on.
Nandina beginning to ripen.

By Christmas time they will look like this.

Perfect for Christmas decorating.

Happy 18th birthday grandson Ben.
Made 3 TDs last night
Won game 43-o.
Hip hip hooray.

Mystery

What is this?

Found this under the oak tree in our back yard.
They are all over the place, even on the deck.

I looked them up and they are the larva of a type of wasp.
Not dangerous to the tree thank goodness.

Share the JOY

I love to take a daily walk around our property.
Just enough for a good walk and there is always something growing whether planted by us or not.

Nature's gifts give me JOY

Probably hit by the mower last week but still so white and hanging on til dry, cold, windy weather takes its toll. A survivor.

Don't care for spiders but have to admire this natural work of art.

Took the spider away but destroyed the web since this particular one was just below my bedroom window.

It gives me JOY to find such simple things right in my own back yard.

WOW us Wednesday=Fall decor around town

Well here it is Hump day, but it does not mean the same to me since retirement.
But happy hump day anyway.

Riding around town there are some pretty neat fall and Halloween and Thanksgiving displays out there.

Thought I would share.

Henry and Henrietta Villager.

All of these displays were done by the residents and employees of
Nazareth Campus
