Share the JOY. Making friends with the critters in our backyard

I always love doing the Thursday Share the JOY
linky party.

I have always been very active.
Completely retiring at age 70, 5 years ago, I thought how will I ever be satisfied to not be involved in all the activities my job offered me.

Meeting, planning and helping to make my home health agency the best in the area.

HH is a real nature lover. Preferring to  spend every evening sitting among our numerous spreading trees with critters running or flitting around the bird feeders.

He likes to go play cards with his buddies during the day and I spend most of my time blogging, painting, crocheting or painting.
But I have found that I am also content sitting on our patio watching the critters in the evenings.

Don't miss the hustle and bustle of getting to work on time or having to work late to stay on deadline.

We don't have many squirrels but this one is a regular.
We call him or her Flash, because it moves so fast.

Oh the JOY of the backyard.
Such blessings we have in our Golden Years.

Will have to admit it took a lot of profound thinking, on my part, to realize I did not need or want that hustle and bustle any more.
Meri has taught me so much about appreciating the simple joys of life and consequently gratefulness for things around that are gifts of nature

Joy at the new blooms on the geranium.

Wishing you all JOY for the coming week.

My sister had a few weeks off from nursing between moves. She could have happily retired! Enjoy all the hours you've earned with a lifetime of hard work!

Peggy, I've bought a new house with a lovely yard that backs up to a forest greenbelt. There are neighborhood deer (a doe and two fawns, my neighbors tell me) and trails through the woods for walking. On the first day, I hung a new hummingbird feeder (my regular bird feeder will stay at the current house until it sells, since I am here most of the time). My sculpture/bird feeder will also make the move, but it seems to be more of a squirrel feeder. Flash would love it.

Thanks for letting me know that Share the Joy has helped you cultivate simple joy. I'm ecstatic~
