The philosophy of Oz.Share the Joy Thursday and Celebrate Oz day

I love Thursday.
There is an added celebration today in blogland.

Share the Joy with Meri

The painting below is one I am working on in class.
It is from a very famous one

Unity
by
Monica Stewart

My favorite subjects in high school and college were History, Religion and Culture and still my favorite subjects to read about today.

This painting reflects all of those things to me.

WooHoo
Such joy to be able to put such beautiful colors and ideas on canvas.

In the movie of  The Wizard of Oz I have always been impressed by the technique of going from the black and white of the beginning frames to the beautiful Technicolor of the Land of Oz.
I love all the characters but my favorite is the Scarecrow.

I love the agility and freedom he represents but my admiration of the production of the film outweighs my love of the characters.
My post about the land of Oz is celebrated through the posting of my most favorite splash of color I have had in my painting classes experience.

The painting of
Unity
speaks to me of my entire philosophy of life and
what is the Wizard of Oz but philosophy presented in a cast of characters and stories that make us think even when we don't realize it.
Acceptance of all regardless of race, color or ethnicity and the ability to control our own destiny and confidence in ourselves.
I never thought I could paint.

Hi Peggy,

it's lovely to hear from you again, I thought you'd given up blogging. But I see that you are still as happily positive and busy as ever and as keen to enjoy life.

I'm having a more difficult patch and my blogging is suffering, but there are times when other things take precedence.

The painting is amazing, Peggy -- wow, wow, wow! Not only do I feel the unity, there's celebration, exuberance, delight, sisterhood, and connection.

"History, Religion and Culture," and it affects society is one of my favorite topics.

And while on the subject of Oz, I'm not sure if you've read Wicked by Gregory Maguire, if you haven't, give it a go. You might like it. I've always thought of it as holding most of the topics of life ;-)

Thank you so much for joining in Celebrate Oz. I agree with Ms. Magaly history, religion and Culture are all part and parcel of the subject matter of Oz, the books, the movie and the resulting sequels have all had those very subjects at the essence of them. Thanks for today and being a part of it, Oma Linda
