The day before Thanksgiving

I love the day before Thanksgiving.
Cooking and arranging things for the celebration.
Yesterday I went to my niece's to pick up an Italian Creme Cake she had made for us and since I was on a search for "Yard Tools" for FSO she took me into the garage to show me her husband's collection of antique tools.

Since this was Thanksgiving week and everyone is cooking and so on, I spotted two that fit for today's post.

There was quite a collection.
One item in particular caught my eye due to the season.

Have any idea what this is?

It is a turkey catcher. Made my his gf to get that illusive turkey.
His grandmother's potato masher.
Quite a distant from the electric mixer we have to mash potatoes with today.
I have a great post for Friday Shoot Out after visiting his collection of tools.

Happy Thanksgiving every one.

Today I am grateful for Splenda so I can have my Italian Creme Cake.
Just a small piece of course.

It's time to get busy in the kitchen, my friend, but I had to come in here to see what you were up to. Fun wall of tools! So glad that you are going to enjoy a bit of sweet. It'll make your day. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

I'm glad the amish farm caught my turkey instead of me having to do the dirty work.

Happy cooking today and celebrating tomorrow.

Rudee, I am too. We had a great time looking at all the tools they used to have to use. Many of them were made on the spot as needed, which I suspect the turkey snatcher was. HH tells me about rigging up a coat hanger to catch the many chickens his mom used to cook for breakfast.

Love those tools!! Amazing how far we have come with mashed potatoes! You know now they put the lumps in to make you believe they are real but my mother and grandmother would have near died over lumpy mashed potatoes. Happy Thanksgiving.
