Vintage Thingie Thursday

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Well today calls for a VT in the Christmas spirit.
Double click on to see the tiny wire rimmed glasses and Santa's gift bag.
HH worked at General Electric in Louisvile, Ky. for 38 years.
They were like a close knit family there.
Someone was always bringing in goodies to eat or making things to raffle off, etc.
One year, at least 30, one of the wives of a co-worker made this pair and raffled them off.
HH came home with them as proud as he could be.
We all fell in love with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
They have decorated our home for many, many years.
They are made from dish washing detergent bottles filled with sand.
The wife, of course made and decorated the clothes and accessories.
I can remember when the bottles with sand were used for a lot of crafts at that time.
I can remember seeing Aunt Jamima and other figures represented.

You woke up some vintage memories for me. I had not thought of these type dolls in years. I am very familiar with them.

I seem to remember some of those crafts as well and they were used as doorstops! What a lovely couple and at their age they are still able to do the stairs, lol!

I can remember my mama having Mr and Mrs Santa made out of the very same thing. Thanks so much for sharing.

That's very impressive.

I've never seen anything made with bottles of sand. It's the clothes and faces that make those so nice.
