Sepia Saturday and Christmas Meme I saw at Vee's and Judy's

This is an old, old post card I found of downtown, my town.
This is the main historic block of our town.
It does not look much different, that is the tops of the buildings, now than then.
I think about 1909.
This shot is looking north from the courthouse.
The business on the left was a drugstore then and is still a pharmacy.
The building on the right has had the front redesigned.
The pointed roof is still there.

A meme found at *Chocolatechic's:*

Give it a try it is fun.

1. Hot Chocolate or apple cider?
Hot Chocolate, apple cider too acidy for me.

Turkey and dressing. Can't have one without the other.

3. Do you get a fake or real-you-cut-it-yourself Christmas tree?
We have a real fake tree, prelit. Kinda lazy these days.

4. Decorations on the outside of your house?
Always fresh greenery with red velvet ribbon on each window.

5. Snowball fights or sleddin’?
I love to watch both. Can't do either these days.

6. Do you enjoy going downtown shopping?
No I like to make all my Christmas gifts. Go to town only when absolutely need something.

Before Thanksgiving is a little too early.

10. Stockings before or after presents?
              No stockings any more.

11. Go to someone else’s house or they come to you?
Always to our house as long as we are able.

12. Do you read the Christmas Story? If so when?
Daughter has a Christmas Even get together after Mass and I as the oldest read The Night Before Christmas.

13. What do you do after presents and dinner?
Corny gift exchange and/or board games.

                  Wait til Christmas Day.

17. Favorite Christmas memory?
My first pregnancy ended on Christmas Day in 1960. Lost twin daughters but friends and friends came  to hospital  and we had wine and fruit cake.

18. Favorite Part about winter?

The store on the left reminded me of some pictures from the 1930s recently reprinted in our local paper. These were accompanied by the history of the building and its use.

Unfortunately today the ground floor is a McDonalds!

Such old postcards are so interesting and yours made me scuttle off to Google Earth to see if I could find the same view now. And a bonus of a Christmas meme as well.

The postcard is extremely well focused and so clear. I think it is so fun to see these old shots of buildings that still are standing.
