Doing my own thing day.

Designed and make this for a friend.

Made with plarn (plastic yarn) and trimmed with paper beads.

Just finished this on Monday.

Acrylics on canvas board.

8x10 acrylics on canvas board. 

Framing this in a rustic frame that I already had.

Painted over the other artist name on the front and using calligraphy put my name on it.

Daughter wants it for her office. WooHoo so glad she likes it.

Doing my Thing Day- Steping into new territory

Stepping into unexplored territory-for me.

I spoke about beginning oil painting classes a couple of weeks ago and how uncomfortable I was with getting that first touch of paint on the canvas.

Well I started and left my canvas at the studio so I would not be tempted to mess it up.

I was working from a picture that had directions and colors to use in the painting.

The green in the center are the beginnings of a tree and a little path up to the tree.

I could not stand the waiting, so I tried to do the painting again from memory since I had the paint that wasn't used to go by.

Also I had a picture of my beginning painting.

She had suggested we get disposable palettes so if there is paint not used you can just cover it with another page and take it home and continue to use it up.

Here is what I did today.

Then I played with it on Picnik and it has helped me to play around with how I might finish my painting.

The things one can do with Picnik are unending.

It is just fun to sit and play with it.

You know what they say about old age.

LOL

Doing my Thing Day- Not much

Today is Doing My Thing Day.

But, because of all the things I did Sunday I cannot do much today.

Old enemy sciatica has reared it's ugly head.

Can't sit for long.

Got my acrylics class homework done and my oil painting class homework done and tried something new.

About 3 days ago I smeared this canvas with gesso.

 Found this on Sketchbook challenge.


Smeared a thick layer of gesso on a canvas leaving valleys and peaks then mixed in a little color pushing and poking it around with a palate knife.
I just kept moving the gesso around as long as it was just a little movable.
This is the way it ended up.

It took it about three days to dry, but I like it.

Doing My Thing Day-New project

 Doing my thing day.

My newest project is moving along pretty fast.

 I love the look of this.

 Kroger bags in this case.

Any plastic bags can be used.

They are spread out.

Folded in fourths.

Ends cut off

 The next step is a little more complicated.

If anyone is interested I will make a video tutorial.

Just indicate in your comment and I will make one.

 It works up pretty fast and surprisingly very sturdy.

Just used a regular crochet pattern.

 

I am going to make this 24" long, fold it in half, join at the sides and make some handles.

Insert a pretty complimentary lining and I will have a great tote bag and have done my share for recycling.

I did not count how many bags I used. Next time I will definitely count them.
