A tourist town must have a lot of places to eat.
There are 45 that I counted in the phone book.
There are only about 5 fine dining family owned ones in town.
My favorite is
Circa.
Circa; Latin for ‘around’ or ‘around about’ seemed the perfect name for the newest restaurant creation by chef owner Bill Ellis and wife and partner Donna Ellis. Located in quaint historic district of downtown Bardstown, Kentucky, Circa is a landmark building on the city center's round about. Built ‘circa 1780’ it is the town's oldest stone house with numerous connections to various significant characters in American history including the first governor of the territories of Florida. The dining rooms at Circa are small and intimate with a decorating style that values the historic design of the home while at the same time connecting easily with the modern feel of the contemporary art and furnishings. Reclaimed wood from the renovation process was used to create the beautiful poplar tables and wainscot siding in the dining rooms. Bill and Donna worked together with their daughter Erin Ellis, a recent graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, in creating the original concept and developing the recipes and menus for their new restaurant. The four other children of the Ellis family contribute greatly to the daily functioning of the restaurant and, together, are deeply committed to providing their guests with an inviting and relaxing atmosphere and a memorable dining experience. |
I have only eaten there for special occasions.
Next to the food my favorite thing about the restaurant are the beautiful paintings by artist owner Donna.
My favorite food to order when it is on the menu is
Scallops.
Favorite drink
