I found this party which looks very interesting to me. I am a senior blogger and don't understand a lot of the new ways of the computer.
But I love blogging and feel welcome here.
My home is what I like to call "nesty." Not a bit like my children's home but I love it and have lots to share.

Being the eldest grandchild on both sides of the family I was given lots of antiques by my family and things got a little crowded. Some things have gone to others but most of my valuable things are very old.
This was my maternal grandfather's desk.
My mom had it originally after he died and it came to me after she passed.
It was made especially for him out of oak and not a single nail was used in it.
It is over 100 years old.

The original knob was lost and so it has a glass knob with a screw in it.
Not original of course.
It sits just inside our foyer and gets the very first ohs and ahs when someone, who likes antiques, sees it.
This was also his chair.
I can see him rocking in it now.
It was stained black with a mahogany stain when my mom got it and she refinished it and stained it to it's beautiful oak state.
The pillow cover was made for us by a blogger friend in Canada and is the Jones Welsh crest.
Hope all you young folks are not bored by the old things I share, we all have different likes and dislikes.
It is home to us and our 6 children and 10 grands.

I enjoyed seeing the desk and chair. There is such beauty in preserving the furniture from days gone by.
I also once had a little desk with a dropdown leaf like that. It wasn't as sturdy and got lost in the shuffle of moving.
I like antiques very much so I enjoyed this post and seeing your grandfather's desk and chair. Is the chair comfortable? it looks as if it would be!
Beautiful desk and chair! How much more special to have had it belong to a beloved grandfather! I have a few special pieces like that and have instructed my daughters that they are to STAY in the family after I'm gone! I can see the uneasy look on the their faces, but I hope someday they'll understand that we need to keep these people with us always!
