Mosaic Monday
While driving around one day this week, I drove onto the road where we used to live before we moved to where we live now.
We moved from the country which we had lived for 9 years in an old, but comfortable house.
This was like a palace to us.
We planted these azalea and they were beautiful for years. They are gone now.

This was a brand new house.
We planted these Bradford Pear trees about 30 years ago.
When we planted them they were all the rage.
We have long since learned they are beautiful but not very sturdy.
One of these trees had been partly blown down but it looks like it recovered and this is how they look this spring.
We moved here in 1977 when our last child was 6mos. old from the neighboring county.
All of our grandchildren were born during the years we lived here.
All of them are grown up now and some married.
Some going to college and how I miss them as they grew up in this Papaw's and Mamaw's house and all lived close by.

We had yearly Easter Egg hunts here and many wonderful Christmas's together.
It is funny, for me, how attached I feel to all the plants in this yard.
These trees are 4 times the size of the house.

Nice to see the trees are still there. Last summer I passed by my Mammaw's house in Laurel, MS. She has been gone since 1988 but I have such fond memories of growing up and spending all the holidays with her and having Easter egg hunts in her big backyard. The entire street was mostly elderly people who were so kind to all of us cousins running around. We'd visit the husband and wife across the street and go out to their garden, dig for earthworms. If we had the hiccups, he would try to scare them out of us. Ha! Sadly, now they are all gone, a different group have moved in to the area and nothing looks the same or is kept up as nicely. Makes me sad. Have a wonderful week. Tammy
I love the big blooming trees. What a sight!

What beautiful memories. When we visited our old house earlier this year, many of the trees and plants had been cut down or dug up. It is strange to see a place that holds so many memories deem so completely different. The blossom on those pear trees is gorgeous.
MY computer has gone nuts my comment just vanished. yvonne
I can so relate to this touching story! Our own first little house seemed like a palace, too! I couldn't believe I had my very own place to decorate and bring pets home to. At the end of season one year, we bought a tiny, scrawny fir tree for $3 just because we felt sorry for it - all alone on the lot! Today it stands at least 25' tall and it's fun to drive past and see how it's doing!
The trees look beautiful. It is funny how we get attached to things - like the landscaping done on a house we no longer own. I have also experience the same feelings about a house we previously owned. I had spent significant time, lovingly planting a small dwarf fruit orchard. The new owners apparently didn't know or care how much work I had put into it. They let the orchard get over grown and die. Sigh...
But we still have our happy memories.
Memories. It's nice to look back and to go back.
Hello, it is ncie to go back and look at your first house. I love the pretty trees and azaleas. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
The trees are gorgeous. How nice to know you planted something that still provides so much beauty. Enjoy your week! Hugs!
I have never been able to go back to my old gardens and see the changes...I was too attached to the plants....but what a wonderful walk with your memories.
