I found a new meme to join and this photo is perfect for each one.
It has been great to finally get out and shoot some interesting things in my neck of the woods.
The is a shot of the Community Garden at Nazareth Retirement Village on the beautiful campus of Sisters of Charity of Charity in Bardstown.
Each resident and/or towns people can pay a small fee for maintenance by the Campus, such as tilling the soil, keep the water barres filled. Each owner does as much work as they can manage on their spot and some of the more able residents help the others out.
It is truly a labor of love.
A better shot of the water barrels.
The Community Garden is located just a few feet from the two resident buildings on the campus.
This garden serves for any resident to have fresh vegetables in the summer, a means of staying active which is so important to the elderly and a means of communication which are all the things living at Nazareth Village take very serious in their planning an care of the residents.

Community gardens are such a great idea. With many more people living in apartments and condos it gives them an opportunity to grow their own food. - Margy
Hi Peggy
The URL for Warm Heart Wednesday is this: http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/
I like that nice community garden at the retirement village! Gardening is such good exercise and I'm sure the senior enjoy tending their crops and having healthy fresh vegetable to eat. My husband and I had a community garden patch for a few years when we lived in Brooklyn, NY. It was far from our home, however, so we gave it up as it was hard to travel there every day to water.I hoped to garden her ein Colorado, but there are too many deer here that eat everything so I gave up that too. I guess I have to admire gardens from afar.
We have some community gardens nearby too, and they are such a pleasure to see at the height of summer.
I think these gardens are wonderful. More towns should do this.
Overcast today but Maine broke records, it was 55 degrees yesterday.
A great winter! yvonne
this is such a wonderful idea, i honestly don't know why more people don't do it!!!
and all the schools should be doing this. i think history and math are great but the schools really should be teaching more "life" skills. how to grow food and then cook it. just my humble opinion!!!!
I love, love, love Community Gardens.
We are very active in ours here in our small town.
It feeds both the foodbanks and my soul every time I am there!
Thank you for warming my heart by sharing yours for week 16.
