A Soulful Life
Looking back over this week and stopping to think about deeper things in life than Christmas decoration, very important.
Not that Christmas and decorations are not important but some profound ideas to share.
Taking a cue from Suzy Mae's A Soulful
Life blog today I am going to focus on the little I know about my ancestors migration to the U.S.
Maternal side from England to Maryland in US due to persecution of Catholics.
From MD. to Ky. for opportunities. Wonderful stories of establishing Catholic faith in Ky.
Paternal side from Ireland as indentured servants.
They were paid by American to come here and work for the benefactors until a certain and were promised ownership of a piece of property.
That never happened.
England wanted to empty Ireland, because Catholic, and England needed the land for the English.
My family were all involved in the tavern business and whiskey and the alcoholism came down through my family at a high rate.
This is not hearsay, I have it all from genealogy research.
'The Gangs of New York" tell the story of the Irish struggles.

I, too have immigrant roots...who doesn't? I wonder if that is even considered. (sigh) I'm descended from Irish Catholic and the Scots, Welsh and Native American. I thank God for them all!!!!! Wishing you a grand weekend. I'm off to retreat at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
We. Are all connected somehow...
Such diversity in all of our histories, love hearing the stories!
I am of Irish descent with a bit of Scottish in me from my father's side.
It's so fascinating to learn about our family's history. So many incredible stories that led to us being born where we are in this world. I am also descended from Celtic ancestry and German/Danish on my maternal Grandmother's side. Thanks for sharing and linking up!
