Count down to
Thanksgiving.
For years we have hosted all our family for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We have 6 children and together they gave us 11 grands.
Those grands are all adults now with spouses etc.
That makes for a large number of folks.
About 2 years ago hubby was very sick around holiday time and by Christmas we were both sick.
Our children started to take responsibility for holiday gatherings.
I am so grateful for that but I miss having them all at our home at one time.
Life is full of changes, some very slow and some come like a storm in the night.
Nearing 80 it is hard for us to entertain like we did.
Our children feel it is their turn now to entertain.
They still must have dad's green beans for the holidays. So we always take a huge pot of dad's green beans.
That post is getting bigger each year.
Thank goodness for a large family.

Celebrations are wonderful in a large family. Lots more food and also lots more help with the dishes afterwards:) We have five children and one grandchild on the way :)
Welcome back and so thankful you found me to visit. Yes, time does change things as I am 86. I gave up doing for kids a long time ago. They have more energy and cook better than me. Blessings to you and family and pray the coming year will be kind to you.
I cherish the holiday seasons when we can all be together
Oh how wonderful that the kids stepped up to the plate. As long as you are together, it!s all good. A Christmas Open House is a fun option, too. One day, we may be doing that!
It is hard to give up a cherished tradition. A few years ago, my daughter took over the Thanksgiving and Christmas cooking. At first it was a wrench, but then I realized that after over forty years of cooking and cleaning, at last I got to be a guest!! I still take stuff with me -- pumpkin pies, whipping cream, special cookies, maybe a side dish or two. But this gives my daughter a chance to decorate her own home, use her best china, and start her own traditions. It's nice, and I've been enjoying it. But like you, I still decorate my own house too, even if no one sees it but my husband and the dog! xoxox DeeDee
