Blogs full of blessings

Catching up about the last year.

I began to help make jewelry with paper beads from the Sisters of Charity magazine, Journey, sometime ago.

Originally the staff were making the jewelry but on lunch break, after work at home or even on vacation time. Some of the elderly sisters helped also.
It became a chore for the staff and the elderly sisters were having problems with hand mobility, etc.
The jewelry was selling well and it became hard to keep the inventory up.

I had been volunteering in The Visitor's Center for sometime and one day I was asked if I would like to be more involved in the making of the Journey Jewelry. My boss knew I loved doing crafts and anything arty.
So the adventure began.
This is my volunteer ministry in raising funds for all
the work the sisters do all over the world.
A blessing to me to be able to do this.

The jewelry is sold in the Visitor's Center so it made sense for me to help.

This is some of my early work.

Rolling the beads one by one.

The strips used for the beads is marked and then cut into v shaped pieces to be rolled and glued into place.
They are then sprayed with a fixative to make them more
durable.

The colorful pages from the magazine make multi-colored beads and then I design and add other beads to make a desirable bracelet, necklace or a pair of earrings.
I love making  three pieces for a matching set .
These are good sellers for the ministry.

My latest project is 400 bracelets to be used as favors at a fund raising luncheon called "Join The Journey" to be held later next month.
300 made and 100 to go.
Also made 100 key fobs for the gentlemen at the luncheon.

My work area.

3 of the 400 bracelets for the fund raiser.

These 2 bracelets were made from jewelry donated to this project.
One on the right from the jewelry left from a beloved deceased mom's collection.

On the left jewelry from a beloved deceased sister's collection.
These will be sent to the donor as memento of their
loved one.

This way everyone can Join the Journey.

I consider myself blessed to have been given this ministry to work for.

Hello and yes, your comment got through to my blog.

Learning a new computer is not easy, for we "Ladies of a Certain Age"... I fully understand. Learning anything new, is more of a challenge. But we get more gold stars, for trying, at our age. :-))))

One suggestion... When one clicks on your 'name'... That click-able link take them to your Google+ page.

In Pretty Blog Land, Google+ is not, not, not liked. When a person's click-able link takes them there, we have to search to find the link to their blog. Which just takes more time.

So if you want Dear Readers, I suggest that you make your "Name" click-able link, take people to your blog. And not to your *dreaded* Google+ page.

Best of luck...

Tessa
