Share the JOY Thursday

It is a sad day in our town as we remember a brave police officer murdered in the line of duty.
One year ago Officer Jason Ellis was brutally murdered on his way home from work.
The entire community, along with his family still pray for a lead to finding this terrible offender.

JOY
I take such JOY in getting a new start for my pink
geranium.

Tiny but gonna make it.

We have had lots of rain and things are so green and flowers are popping out everywhere.
Hope the summer continues with adequate amounts of rain and sunshine.

Memorial Day and family reunion

Memorial Day 2014

We have been holding our Jones family reunion on Memorial week-end Sunday for many years.

In 1994 several years after John and Clare were deceased we decided to combine a family golf tournament and family reunion.
The first one was 1994.
I was playing golf then and was on the first winning team.
Many of the grandsons were beginning to play golf and we all gathered from here and there to play golf in the morning and then meet at 4 PM for a huge family dinner, music and games.

Children and grand children from all over the country make it HOME on Memorial Week-end to have a wonderful time and remember Momma and Pap.
This year because of weather conditions we did not have any electricity so amps and electric guitars did not even get out of their cars.

6 of 9 children of John and Clara still living.

My HH 3nd from left in blue shirt in 2014.

family reunion in 1988 our daughter in blue and granddaughters, all grown up now.
Such fun family.

Vee's May Card Party

Almost missed the May Card Party.
Decided to use the Mother's Day cards I made for our 4 daughters.

“As mothers and daughters, we are connected with one another. My mother is the bones of my spine, keeping me straight and true. She is my blood, making sure it runs rich and strong. She is the beating of my heart. I cannot now imagine a life without her.”

Grandson Thomas, Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday handsome grandson.
Wishing you a wonderful day.

Grand Social - Another Mother's Day

Unusual for me to be up this early but got this shot at
6:55 AM.

It gets a little chilly during the night but we have had plenty of sunshine and the flowers below are
up.
Thank goodness I could hardly wait to see them.

Our youngest daughter got to make her Mother's Day visit this Sunday and we had a great time together.
Lunch at our favorite Mexican El Jimador.

Don't you just love these colorful Mexican restaurants.

Share the JOY Thursday-Our granddaughter's new home.

When our granddaughter married about 4 years ago she and her new husband planned to travel the globe (partly due to his business enterprises) and to have as much fun as possible before starting a family and building a new home.

You all have seen numerous photos of the new baby born in Dec, 2013

He is thriving and getting stronger every day.

The new home has been under construction for several months

The land has all been excavated, the lake built and the gazebo down by the lake is nearly finished.
(this photo was taken from the front yard of our daughter's home.)

The trees have been planted that will be in the front yard and around the road to the house and lake.
The house will set behind the trees right up next to the wooded area.

There is much JOY is seeing anyone have a dream come true but especially when it is someone you love very much.

They love to entertain.

Wow us Wednesday-A movie review

Just ran across a marvelous movie on Net Flix that I had not heard about.

Emperor

Made in 2012
Starring Matthew Fox
who I had loved in the TV series Lost and
Tommy Lee Jones, one of my favorites, as
General Douglas MacArthur.

Based on true events.
Highly recommend it.

About the last emperor of Japan following
WWII

Personal Photo Challenge -Colorful

This is one of my favorite memes.
It has a theme not not too limited.
Sometimes limited themes make it hard for me since I don't go out a lot these days.

Shot with my Olimpus
set on auto and flash to come on based on amount of light needed.
Love that aspect.

Umbrella color enhanced with Pic Monkey saturation

This photo was taken in Kingston Jamaica.
Most of the houses are colorful but this impressed me because since Marijuana is legal there, it is grown right out where the flowers are.
We were in a jeep safari but the guide would slow down for any photo requests. LOL

He was not using due to his job requirements but many of the folks along the road were stoned out of their mind. I know it is not funny but I can't forget how funny it all seemed to us.

Although the touches of color were red I enhanced them with Pic Monkey.
I think I would have liked this better if I had cropped down to the porch.
Gonna try that.

This house was right across from Bob Marley's house.

I am pleased that I have gotten the hang of macro and bokeh now,  but darkened the leaf and the deck railing to bring out the color of the geranium and define the stems of the blooms.

I know I went over the limit but tried this shot more than once.

By lowering my camera just a bit and barely aiming up, I was able to get the translucent aspect of the shell.
It is pure white in color.
When shooting with my camera higher and turned down the inside shows the white.
A little tidbit of learning for me.
