In a town full of churches and religious establishments you can imagine the number of stained glass items to be found.
This is my favorite of all of them.
Nelson County Library.
Stained Glass Tapestry
This window was designed and created by glass
artis Laura Mentor of Louisville, Kentuky.
The panels contain glass from Poland, France,
Germany, and the United States. Her Technique
involves multiple firings of glass in a kiln to fuse
paint onto the glass, coupled with sandblasting
certain areas of the glass surfaces to create
detailed translucent images.
The window is designed to show scenes and
subjects important to Bardstown, Nelson County, and our world, and our access to historical and
cultural information through the use of the
library facilities.
One panel shows the music and some lyrics from
Stephen Foster's song
"My Old Kentucky Home." Another depicts the
riverboat designed by John Fitch. Other scenes show the historical structures such as St. Vincent
Church on the campus of The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, and the old court house on Court Square.
Other panels contain wildflowers native to this area. gears to represent industry, and a 24 hour clock-face to represent time, scenes from the Zodiac and phases of the moon. The two globes show the position of sister cities Bardstown, Ky. and Billom, France.
St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral
Many older homes in my town have stained glass
windows.

I love the stain glass at the library, so beautiful.
THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL. I really like the one at the Nazareth Library. It reminds me of the verse "Thy Word is a lamp unto feet and a light unto my path".
The stained glass at that library is like a quilt collection. Very interesting.
This is a super post. We sometimes forget to take notice of the most beautiful things around us.
I am always amazed of how beautiful stained glasses are. Awesome find thanks for sharing!

stained glass window in a library - who knew?! It's beautiful.
What a collection, Peggy! They are all lovely but the first, at the library, that just takes my breath away. I always find libraries restful places and can imagine the light coming through that window, softening the room.
They are all so pretty; it is hard to choose but I loved the modern one with circles and the one that took my breath away was from the Library at Nazaareth Campus.
Oh my goodness what beautiful glass your town has! I think I like the Alladin's lamp one best. It appeals to my inner child. lol.
That first window is amazing! Beautiful shots. Thanks for sharing!
