My town is a rural, historic, tourist town.
Named "The Most Beautiful Small Town in America" in 2012 by Rand Mc Nally and USA Today there is something going on all year round.
Right now there are indoor things going on.
The Community Theater production of
A Midwinter Feaste.
A dinner where attendees and performers dress in traditional English costumes. The audience take part in the goings on with traditional English food served.
The My Old Kentucky Dinner Train runs nearly all year long.
An amazing experience, especially at night with all the lights sweeping from under the train.
Looks deserted but is available in the winter for wedding rehearsal dinners, business retreats, anniversary celebrations, etc.
I hear the whistle very often in the winter, as it passes near our home.
Bridal shows are a biggie in the winter.
Held inside but intended for the Spring bride.
In the spring and summer most outdoor activities take place on
Spalding Lawn.
A large lawn in the center of town with entrances from all directions.
Here is how that looks in winter.
The center of our town's warm weather activities.
One of the oldest and most distinguished spots in our town.
It houses the Getz Museum of Whiskey History which is open all year round.
Was once a Catholic boys prep school.
Once used by the nurses of the Sisters of Charity as a hospital during the Civil War, caring for Union and Southern wounded soldiers.
It was neutral territory.
The eagle in the center was commissioned by student alum of the prep school and carved into an eagle from a fallen tree.
The prep sports teams were
The Eagles.
Since I posted above.
Winter in my town on Thursday.
My car on the right, no go.
HH's car on left.
Auto Zone
My car.
Shopping center in front of
Auto Zone.
Light dusting of snow.
Needless to say they were very busy.

Love the history lesson. I hope the boys got that car going for you. It looks too cold to walk.
it looks like a pretty little town.
Winter seems to be very grey in your town. But I love that lawn during winter. It has a special charm!
I don't think you told us the name of your town.
Is that an angel on the lawn or an eagle? I hope you are staying warm and that your car is up and running.
Love the carving and the memories of that whistle of the train from my own childhood.
Peggy, this post goes to the heart of the MTFSO's creation intent. Loved the post from beginning to end. I have, of course, been through your town - it was by accident but loved walking the main street. We drove around and around looking for the Train Museum but never found it. how would you like to expand this a bit and post our 1st MY Town Spotlighted. say.... the 21 of February. email me.
