When I read the front page of our largest state newspaper this morning, I could hardly believe my eyes.
Murderer of teen 14 years ago indicted and arrested for the crime.
My office was in that small town 14 years ago when that happened.
I remember going to work that morning after she was found and the entire town was buzzing with
"Bucky did it, Bucky did it."
Bucky was a mildly retarded neighbor who had a history of arguing with the family.
He was convicted and spent 2 years in prison before they discovered he did not do it.
The man who did it was the girl's paternal uncle.
He had a history of sex crimes and yet he was never even investigated for the crime.
The picture accompaning the article was of the Sheriff in the town with his head down crying.
He was not the Sheriff at the time but an officer who found her body.
Now, unless the uncle confesses, the family will have to go through the entire debacle again.
My prayers go out for this family and the entire town and all who felt the sting of that crime.

PTL for the dedicated police who continue to search for the real perpetrators, for the technology that allows them to discover the truth.
That's awful. Such a shame when the wrong person is convicted and does time while the true murderer is still running loose. That her own uncle was not investigated knowing his background is true negligence on the part of the investigators. I trust justice will be served. Best wishes, Tammy
