This is not about a handmade craft but about the work of a dedicated gardener.
For years we had daylilys from the front of our driveway up to the front stoop.
This photo was taken in 2001.
Everyday I would deadhead the blooms and loved doing it.
After knee surgery and some other activity limiting episodes we decided to have them dug up.
It was more than we could handle.
We had more in the back.
Our yardman took them all up about 3 years ago.
I missed them but not the work.
Truly daylilys only bloom one day.
That is where they get their name.
That is why one must deadhead them daily.
But because they only bloom one day but give their all for that day, I choose the daylily for my namesake when I named my blog.
I like them for a model to give my all each day.
To be the best I can be for a day, every day.
Three years after the removal I found this in my front yard, yesterday.
A survivor.
That is why the daylily is my namesake.

Love lilies. And that birch tree is sooooo short !!
They are tough but beautiful. Mind you, I would like to get rid of some of the common orange ones. They are very persistent, however.
I have some along the side but keep them curtailed because they do tend to over multiply and take over...however they are very easy maintenance, so they have a permanent spot here. Much easier care than my roses...I lost 2 rose bushes over this long winter and am unlikely to replace them as long as we are traveling as we do.
I love that you found one!!! That is a miracle! It shows you that you did pick a wonderful namesake!!

I love daylilies and most especially the common ones. The color just zings against my home in July when they bloom here. I don't always deadhead mine...sometimes...rarely. I'd not worry about this little "I'm Backkkkk" daylily. =D Thanks for explaining your blog name.
