The Wedding Day
Evan Hagan Parrott and Elizabeth Noe
June 21, 1938
Shyne Parrott as he was called was related to my maternal grandmother by way of the Mc Intire family.
Elizabeth Noe was related to the family of Nancy Hanks who was the mother of Abraham Lincoln.
This photo of Elizabeth Noe reminds me so much of my mother.
The bride's bouquet looks like it may have been made using flowers growing around the house in the background.
It was a summer wedding as we can see by the clothes and the date.

I love those old photos. The B&W is gorgeous - I love to imagine the colours.
What a lovely couple! Interesting family link Elizabeth has to President Lincoln. Do you know her connection to Nancy Hanks? I'm curious, as I always find it interesting when someone is related to a president, especially a famous one like Lincoln.
Interesting family history and a very lovely photo. Hope you are well and having a great weekend. Tammy
You don't see many grooms wearing a white costume, at least not in the northern part of Europe. The grain of the picture suggests it was originally a newspaper photo?
In any case, the couple radiates happiness. Thanks for sharing.
Very handsome couple. I hope that they enjoyed a happy marriage.
Interesting to see the groom in a white suit and a link to Lincoln, if that is not too much of a pun.
I love the huge bouquet.
What an interesting family lineage. I love the photograph.
...and what a lovely day for two hearts to be joined! Simply wonderful!
Wonderful!!! It is so good when we can discover our roots, good or bad, and then share them. Have a grand day! Cathy
I have a Noe in my ancestry - and - another ancestor was a neighbor of the Lincoln's and is named in a lawsuit/land dispute with Abe's father (they were on the same side). We kinda sorta share family. (Kathy at abbieandeveline.com)
Lovely couple!
Lovely photo. He looks quite movie starish.
bouquet from your own garden, a piece of family history.
My Dad cut off his prized orchid for my sister's bouquet.
Lovely photo - the bouquet looks huge! :-) Jo
A great picture, and what a fascinating historical connection.
I adore that immense bouquet! Thanks for sharing.
How exciting to be linked to Abraham Lincoln. The couple look very relaxed and happy.
