Placemats made of plarn--You're gonna love it Tuesday.

The sun is shining in my neck of the woods. We had about 2 inches of rain but the experts say we need more.

So this is a LOVE it Tuesday

I had shown place mats that I had made using plarn before, to use on my deck table.

They are coated with outside Mod Podge and backed with a piece of fabric.

It is rains on them you just wide them off and they are fine.

When It came time for me to make something for our upcoming summer picnic at Nazareth Campus

I decided to make University of Kentucky and University of Louisville place mats for outside or for tail gateing.

 Anything U of K or U of L are good sellers

and it is all for charity.

 The finished top of  the U of K place mat.

They are 16 1/2 inches in diameter.

I used a regular crochet pattern for yarn place mats.

They can be made any size you choose. 
If making to use for coasters place a piece of plastic between the two layers.

 I just happened to have quilted UK fabric which is perfect for the underside.

After gluing the fabric to the crocheted mat

I crocheted a chain stitch to be glued around the edge

to give it a finished look.

Using my new found clips, that I show below, the glued fabric was stabilized until dry.

Now to finish the University of Louisville place mats the same way.

Top crochet with red and white plarn and back side lined with U of L fabric.

There are four place mats in each set.

Since the proceeds go to support the missions of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth these will have a price tag of $10.00 for a set of four.

I do a lot of projects with Mod Podge but a new little twist I came across is using the ends of plastic clothes hangers, after you break them off the hanger, for clips to hold projects in process of gluing or sewing.
