Monday Mosaics

Mosaic Monday

Lantana finally taking off along with some moss roses.

Most of the plants sold as lantana are either Lantana camara, Lantana montevidensis, or hybrids between the two. L. camara (syn. L. aculeata or L. armata) is the most common species in cultivation. Numerous cultivars of this species exist, including ‘Irene’, ‘Christine’ and ‘Dallas Red’ (all tall-growing cultivars) and several recently introduced shorter ones. The shorter cultivars may flower more prolifically than the taller ones. Lantana montevidensis is known as Trailing Lantana. The species gives blue (or white) flowers all year round. Its foliage is dark green and has a typical odor.

Just picked these up one day as most plants are on sale now. Had never had these before. I love the dainty groups of petals.

go here for mosaic Monday with Mary.

I saw a lot of these in Sri Lanka and Nepal -- I thought they were a tropical plant but now I see them all over blogland. Very pretty! Have a great week. Tammy

So pretty! I was just telling Vickie at Sand Flat Farm that I so love lantana and yet don't have any this year. I really like the way you created your mosaic, too.

I have heard that Lantana is called by some the ditch lily of the Carribean. I guess that means it will grow where it is hot. That makes a great plant for sunny containers. So pretty. Valerie

I always loved moss roses. We have a lot of lantana here in FL but it takes over the flower beds. Yours are such pretty colors! Stay cool!

I love lantana and I love the colors of yours. Here they are annuals, unless I overwinter them in the garage. But I have seen them become huge, almost shrubs in Southern California.

Hello Peggy
Lantana is an annual I like to use in a couple of pots as they're supposed to attract butterflies - I don't think they do. Are they attracted to yours?

Hi Peggy. Lantana is my favorite annual that I stuff in window boxes and pots with other annuals. This is a beautiful mosaic. Thanks for visiting! Blessings, Pamela
