Sepia Saturday

Sepia Saturday
With
our
host
Alan

Pvt. John C. Jones
Circa 1914.
He served in Germany in WWI
This was an official army photo.

My shoes circa 1938

My maternal grandmother in the center at her last attendance at a public family celebration.
Nice lace ups, very practical with a little heel.
All of her grandchildren present.
She was 84.
I am the oldest at 31 here somewhere in the back and the youngest Harriett is 14 on the right end.
The white cane belongs to my blind uncle.
My grandmother walked as straight as could be and never used a cane.
She died at age 96.

Great perspective.

I flitted right past the beginning of the post and thought it rather odd you were showing pictures with heads cut off--taking a picture like that was my mother's specialty...so thanks, QMM! I got a good chuckle and then went back and read the title of the post.

I love your little dainty socks in the 1938 photo!

You have certainly forced us to concentrate on the shoes.

Oh yes the feet of very important "persons"!!! Nice touch.....! From all walks of life!

This made me smile. It reminded me of a black and white home movie shown to us years ago, of a party where only the feet of the guests were filmed. It was very funny!

I love that photo that just shows the feet - how much we can learn from only that part of their persons. As with Nell, this made me smile also.

You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their shoes.

Quite a difference in shoes between the first and second photo.

Wonderful shoe photos, but it was the white cane that really caught my attention.

I love the focus on the shoes. I hope you follow in your grandmother's footsteps. :)

What wonderful photos ... I like how you just featured the shoes!

How great that your grandmother lived so long.

Happy Sepia Saturday,

Loved catching up on your posts! Some in our family used to take photos with heads cut off - but yours was an intentional focus on shoes! Cool! 96 is an awesome age!! Farm to Table program photos are making my mouth water!!

Have a great week-end!

Family history from the bottom up. Would make a fun family game.

We have taken a similar approach this week and let the feet of our subjects tell their own story. Hope mine is as fascinating as yours.

I especially like the last photo when we can figure the age of the person just by their shoes.
