Vintage Thingie Thursday and Tea Talk with Ruth

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Found these in a thrift shop for .50 cents each filled with
pot-pourri

Found them for sale at about 3.50 on the internet

No mention of how long they have been in circulation.
There was a mark on the bottom
20Cl
which seems to mean ceramic lid but these stoppers were shown in the empty bottles.
The suggested use was for the sand ceremony in a wedding.
You may know but I have never seen or heard of a sand ceremony.
So

What is a Sand Ceremony?

The Unity Sand Ceremony is one of the most popular elements in today's weddings.  Often taking the place of the traditional unity candle ceremony.  The Sand Ceremony is much better suited to outdoor and beach settings!  These Sand Ceremony vases can be personalized with names, dates, monograms and even logos. We also offer the miniature Family Sand Ceremony vases so that you may include your parents or children in the Sand Ceremony.  Sand Ceremony Set

Like the unity candle, the sand is used to symbolize the uniting of the bride and groom. Their separate lives are symbolized by two vials of sand (usually different colors). After the exchange of rings, the officiant explains the meaning of the Unity Ceremony. The Bride and Groom then come together, and pour into one vial, the two individual vials of sand. Their flowing together symbolizes the joining of the couple as they share their first experience of unity as husband and wife. The newly formed union is represented by the intertwined pattern of sand created by the couple. This symbol is then a keepsake of your wedding day.

Wonderful idea.
Now does any one know what this might be?

These look convex but they are concave.
Is it some type of game?

Tea Time with Ruth

Having...........Aveno Tea with one of my favorite mugs.

Feeling..............Very ambivalent about all the changes going on in our family. Little kiddos who were so loving and fun to be with and loved coming to Papaw and Mamaw's house have new interests now. They are still so loving and very respectful but I miss the special times we used to have together.
Now when I stop to think It would not be normal for them to come and have tea parties with the toys like they used to.

On my mind.......These are normal changes and I must admit I have been guilty of watching the actual trial of Casey Anthony and my heart is just breaking.
I know that is why these thoughts are going through my head.

I pray that in time God will bless this family with understanding and forgiveness.

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.

I am not looking forward to the changes that I know will be coming with the grands. The early years are so wonderful.

Those changes in our grandchildren just happen so fast it seems! We'll have to be patient as the relationships grow and blossom. -- Those jars are interesting! Fascinating about the sand ceremony.

I found a link to the board game here

Queenie,
May the changes be for the best and wonderful.

We are always in a changing pace. I sometimes don't handle it very well and wish I could push the pause button.

God bless you dear friend,
d

This is only the second time I've heard of a sand ceremony. The bottles are a nice find. I used to love playing Mancala and still have it somewhere in this house.
