Vintage Thingie Thursday and Tea Talk Thursday with Ruth

Tea Talk with Ruth

Ruth is such a busy hostess. She is attending school and has a lot of other things to keep her busy.
She is always so gracious to sit and hear what we all have to say and I like the chance to put down some thoughts I am having.

What I am having..........Comforting Tea by Aveda. Yes from the same business that sells Aveda make up and relaxation products.
A gift from my daughter.
In ..........Yes it is a Christmas mug. I just love the red birds and felt like enjoying the beauty and remembering the pleasure HH and I get from watching them in our yard.

Feeling...........Contented. Being home to do my housework etc at my own speed and time to plan and prepare a meal when I decide to cook. HH does most of the cooking.
That comes from sharing the chores while both of us were working and raising 6 wonderful children.

Thinking........I just realized the advise we get "Just live in the moment."
really applies in my case.
If I didn't live in the moment I would not live since I can't see tomorrow and can't remember yesterday.
Just take it one day at a time even if I have to stop and check to see, for sure, which day it is.
Aging, ain't for the faint of heart.

If you have one eye on yesterday, and one eye on tomorrow, you're going to be cockeyed today. Anonymous

Love antiques and stories about treasured items?
This is the meme for you.

When my Mom passed away about 23 years ago most of her things came to me.
I had put this little tole painted recipe box away and forgotten about it.

I was recently looking for a container for my sugar substitute and found this.

It was so covered with dust that when I attempted to clean it, I rubbed much of the paint on the top of it off.

I was tempted to repaint the top but decided to leave it the way it is.

It was done in the early 70's and her name is visible on the lower right side.

Here near Mother's day I am so blessed to have things of hers with pleasant memories attached to them.
She did this in a Homemaker's group.

Love you Mom.

That is a charming memento of your mom. I'm glad you are using it again now (I like your idea of putting your sugar substitute in it). When you see it, undoubtedly "sweet" memories come back to mind as well.

A very special post! Love that statement, "If I didn't live in the moment I would not live since I can't see tomorrow and can't remember yesterday." Have a great week!

How wonderful you found something of your mother's to cherish. I recently found a recipe in an old book that she had written. Happy mother's day to you! :-)

Aging may not be for the faint of heart - you need to be a survivor to deal with aging : but there again, if you have to deal with aging, you are a survivor.

You are so right..old age ain't for sissies...and that's a fact. :))
I sure feel blessed that HE has allowed me to reach old age, and in fairly good shape.
Have a happy day, dear heart.

How right to treasure the moments that we're actually living! I like your Christmas tea mug. Don't worry--cardinals are starting to pop out everywhere, so they are *really* spring birds!!

Blessings to you today,
Christine

I did not know that they made tea as well. I will have to look for some. Thanks for the tip. When I find a favorite mug I tend to use it no matter what the decoration on it.

Love this post and your philosophy on life. Love the cockeyed quote.
We have seen a lot of life. Bob and I will celebrate 53 years in June, my sweet Mom passed away 33 years ago and I miss her every day,. My husbands Mom was from Beaver Dam, Kentucky. He still has relatives there. We will be Louisville in July for his aunt's 100th birthday.
Kentucky is a beautiful place.
I am your newest follower.

I love your quote! It brought a chuckle. I'll probably be spouting it out to my friends for the next few days now. Your rememberances of your mom made me miss mine. She is a few states away and I wonder when I will see her again. Thank you for sharing tea time with us.

Haha, funny quote, but speaks a lot. So true.

Beautiful tribute to your mom. It inspires me to write one for mine, too! Was so busy but yet that nowt an excuse not to celebrate my mom especially tomorrow. Thanks Peggy!

By the way, I'm a basket lover, so I'm a bit curious of what's behind your mug :-)

Blessings to you!
