This was not taken by me, of course, but in my archives of a very special day in our family's life.
Although I am retired I will always be a nurse.
I am so grateful and appreciative of all the nursing instructors and other teachers who helped get me through nursing school.
It took me 10 years.
One class at a time while working, raising children and running a household.
It was hard but anything worth having is worth hard work.
It was worth every hard hour and every tear shed.
My first nursing job was at Methodist Evangelical Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, now closed.
Our local hospital.

I have never been a patient here, nor have I worked in this new hospital.
I did work in the old hospital, now our library.
It was only built and opened a few years ago.

I don't have any photos of nurses but a few of hospital's garden and a doctor attending to patient...will post later.
Blogger took a powder longer than that for me....but I got work done!
Now, I want to stand and say loudly:
"I APPRECIATE NURSES!!!!"
Because without a good nurse, a doctor is mediocre. Amen. End of story.

Your opening statement would also apply to teachers appreciating teachers. I wonder how many other groups feel that way?
Anyway, as I've said before, I think you did an amazing thing to become a nurse how and when you did.
Just LOVE nurses!! Quite a few in our family and since I was 15 I've always worked in hospital settings. Blessings for you for choosing to be a servant of the King through nursing!! I love the statue in that hospital garden - I've been looking into getting something similar in our nursing home garden - along the lines of a memorial garden niche!

Another ministering angel! As someone who has never been very good around sick people, I think nurses are walking wonders who deserve much more than one day of recognition.

I never heard of International Nurses Day before and I don't have any pictures of medical staff, but I have pictures of our hospital.
I like those pictures from the gardens, the environment is not unimportant either.
Oh Peggy, what a beautiful photo of you. Nursing had to be such a rewarding, though sometimes very difficult career. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Toot that horn girl! As a nurse I know what it means to struggle putting yourself through school while having small children. I also know the hardships and joys of caring for others sometimes at the price of neglecting self. Here's another pat on the back and I say thanks.
