Doing my Thing Day- This and that

Since I don't have a meme on Wednesday I just call it doing my thing day.
I would like to make this a meme as soon as I figure out how to get Mr. Linky going again.
As many of you have seen the things I am crocheting with plarn, I have decided to add a hat to go with the purses and for this one a cell phone holder attached to the purse with a red, white and blue ribbon.

I call this set The Americano

In fact QMM wore this to the Derby Party Saturday.

Obviously it had no good luck attached to it since I did not win any money.

The Sunflower

The Basket
These will have hats to match as soon as I finish making them.

A new project.

Any one who uses lancets at home for the care of their DM must have a secure container to put them into until they can be taken to be disposed of properly.

I had painted a coffee can and put an opening in the top but the paint kept peeling off.
It did not look good at all.

Changing that look.

This is the same can being covered with fabric and using Mod Podge to beautify my sharps holder.

I did not care for the word "Sharps" to identify my container so I went on line and found the French word for lancets.

Bistouri

So I wrote that on fabric with fabric paints and MPed it onto my container.

The Top

Now the opening of the container must be one way only for safety.
There is a slit under the fabric where I drop the lancets into the container.

To cover the slit I put this cutsey thingie on with a hat pin
and
walah

It slides open and then can be closed.

Next I wanted to remind myself that I must love myself enough to take care of myself in order to go about the purpose that God put me here for, as long as I can.

So I added a big red bow.

The red ribbon the bow is made from has white hearts on it and reminds me, when I feel weak in following my care plan, that I must love God 1st and then my neighbor as myself.
If I don't take care of myself, I can do none of those things.
