Well it is still raining in Kentucky.
Still snowing in some states
but today is
Vintage Thingie Thursday
and that makes for a fun day.
Many years ago I crocheted continuously.
Mostly with cotton.
I had doilies all over the place.
This was a table cover and they sort of went out of style.
Diameter about 24 inches across.
One day I was looking for something to do, I bought a generic barbie doll and converted this table cover into
this
Luckily I did not have to make a single cut.
I took the head off and inserted the neck into the hole at the center of the doily, the arms through the holes,
added the wide ribbon wings, tied the waist with a gold ribbon and placed a piece of gold around her head for a halo. I found the little gold hearts somewhere.
She has been the center of my Nativity scene for many years.
Now doilies are back in for me and my crocheted doily will grace my Easter table this year.
It will then go back on the doll when Christmas rolls around again.
The grands get a big kick out of Angela and all vie for her when I am ready to part with her.
Guess I will have to draw names.
This is this week's art project.
A beautiful pattern that I made a couple of mess ups on.
But I did my best to correct them.
I love the colors on this bunny on wheels. LOL
Primitive art for sure.

I will have to steer you to
my art teacher's paint page to see it in all it's beauty.

Lots of snow here last night. The driveway got socked in by the plow but neighbor lady has cleared it for us with her trusty blower. Now, it's raining and that will help -- until it freezes over.
So beautiful and how creative you are! The pineapple doily has turned into a baby doll dress, very pretty! Love your drawing too, it looks great! Hope you have a glorious day! Love, x
Hello Kentucky Peggy!!!
Dear Friend, I am so ready for Spring...it hurts.
The sky is blue today instead of grey and this helps, but the cold temps are still here.
Your little doily doll is sweet.
Have a great week,
d
Oh the memories of those doilies!
I had to go see where Anvilcloud lives. I don't want to see anymore snow.
Now, QMM, nobody ever told me that my grandmother's doilies were out of style. I have many place throughout my house. I think of her when I see them. I do like what you did to make the angel--especially those gold hearts. She's charming.
Good way to showcase your vintage crochet!
Enjoyed your post. I did the something similar with a dollI had been given for Christmas when I was 4. I used a doily my grandmother had made. Blessings. Debbie
What a clever idea to make the angel out of your table cover.
I love your bunny carriage and the frame really sets it off perfectly : )
Crocheted and so beautiful!! I wish I could do this!!! What a wonderful job you have done. I love it so much and I hope it never goes out of fashion..
Peggy thank you for the Hi Light Button...I appreciate it very much. Have only just discovered that I received it from you. How very thoughtful!
In return your gift from me is that of, Your Bible Name.
Mary, you are a Mary, you sit at the Masters feet and oil Him with worship and gladness.
God Bless. xx
I am going to try to add the link myself....love your doll!! I wonder why you are having a problem. If I can link you in, maybe I can add you myself each week. :( Sorry....let's see what happens.
