Tea Time Thursday and Vintate Thingie Thursday

Tea Time Talk Thursday with Ruth
and
Vintage Thingie Thursday with Suzanne

makes for a good Thursday.

Tea on the deck today.

Acorns still on the deck table.

Having------Lemon Honey Chamomile by Disney Tea, The Official Unbirthday Tea.
1/2 grapefruit for snack.
Using my new cobalt blue tea cup with the sweet little blue bird on it.

Feeling------Sun is shining brightly. It is probably about 70 degrees.
Feeling so encouraged and hope of warm weather.
HH and I like to sit in the sun about 10 a.m. every morning during the warm weather.

On my mind--------The sun makes me feel good and has helped ease my mind about this diabetic learning I need to do.
Messed up today and ate too much Grape Nuts cereal for lunch as I had overlooked the carbs factor.
My supplies came today and post lunch BS was way too high.
Now me knows.

Vintage Thingie Thursday

I had said that I was finding myself interesting in old postcards since blogging and decide to start a search.
I visited two of my regular thrift haunts and did not find anything.
I went to my true favorite Mackin's Antiques in town and wala- did I ever hit the jackpot.
I approached the cards with expectations of having to pay dearly for a single card but found a large box of cards, mostly $1.00 each.
I came home with some treasures.
I first looked for ones with messages so as to establish a date and found a couple.
But I have some really neat ones.
Collecting postcards takes up a lot less room them some items I had been collecting.

This, of course, is The Barry Statue and Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pa.
Very nice preserved card.
Built in 1729-35 by the Province Of Pennsylvania as the Colonial State House.
In the foreground is shown the bronze statue of
Commodore Barry.

The more interesting side.

Now I don't know why this was only partly scanned but what is important is the date and where it was mailed from.
From a niece to her aunt and uncle in Ohio.
March 22,1917
I had blocked out the name and street address, but I guess her words were not to be sent out into cyberspace to be read.
Go here for more VTT

The blue cup is very pretty - and doesn't a pretty cup with a special tea make you feel a bit pampered?

Am jealous of your great weather and being able to sit outside to enjoy your cup of tea! It's snowing again today! Yummy looking snack! Have a great week-end!

Your mug is just gorgeous! Those acorns remind me of my 5th grade storybook about 19th century American girls collecting acorns in the Wild West. I like the quote you shared. It's just what I need right now. VTT wow! I love old, so stuff like this attract me right away. I'll go read the instructions and see if I have what it takes to join this meme. I want to :)

I enjoyed tea with you today.

I think your mug is just gorgeous...What a wonderful blue!!!

Don't be too hard on yourself when it comes to learning about your DM. I know how diligent you are and I'm sure you will manage it to perfection. I am always concerned about those who don't take it seriously. You should do fine. Just understand that even on your best day of management sugars can go awry.

Wishing you well! Cathy

Aahh, tea on the deck. Maybe someday soon, but alas, I fear that spring will takes its sweet time coming to these Midwest climes. :)

I like your blue mug; I'm partial to all things blue.

Keep pushing on in your quest for health; my husband was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in '01, and he has recently (last year) begun a workout program and better diet. He is pretty much off the insulin and is in excellent health after all these years. I encourage you to keep plugging away, be faithful to the Lord with how He wants you to eat and take care of your body. He will give you grace!

Blessings,
Christine

I love to find postcards of my home town to collect! and I love it when they have been written on to see what was said at the time.

Oh, I can just imagine where you bought that Disney Tea...Magic Kingdom? In one of the sweet-treat shops??? :-)

Love your mug; my son is a type 1 diabetic, he was diagnosed at age 4, he's almost 18 now...we've been at it now for almost 14 years. Be diligent and take it VERY seriously, you'll do fine. Also, if this is type 2 diabetes, know that you absolutely CAN cure yourself (unlike type 1). You do not have to live with it. Visit Dr. Fuhrman (just Google him) or Hallelujah Acres and poke around there. But if you don't want to or can't do what it would require, then just give yourself some time and be diligent with your effort...you'll get the hang of carb counting and the like. May God bless you as you make your decisions!

Blessings,
Lori

Sitting in the morning sun with such a delightful snack and tea sounds wonderful!
I'm sorry you are struggling with diabetes...I relate VERY well as I had severe diabetes, gestationally, with 8 of our 10 children. It can be very difficult to balance those numbers...hang in there!

Hello! Greeting from Hongkong! I'm glad that our host has wifi so I can connect and do a bit of blogging during our stay here. It's a very cold and misty morning here. I can't see anything from the window. But I felt a bit of sunshine reading your post. It is delightful to sit in the sun in a spring morning.
Will remember you and your health concerns in my prayer times.
Lovely mug!

Blessings,
Ruth

I love old postcards and your right they don't take up much room. The colors and sometime quality are so good. Newer ones just don't compare
