Vintage Thingie Thursday

Vintage Thingie Thursday

In 1957 I was taught to crochet by my X-ray instructor.
She was a wonderful woman.
She gave me this collection of
"Boye"
steel crochet hooks.
Several have been lost.
I have not idea how long she had them but I have had them these 54 years.

I have not used these in years since my eyesight is not what it used to be.

They mean a lot to me.

My grandmother loved to crochet. I have a few of her pieces. My mother taught me as a child but I learned "for real" while in college in the late 1960's. Your needles are such a wonderful memory of your teacher. Thanks for sharing.

I recently started crocheting again. I'm making flowers. A great skill to have.

A complete set, wow. I used two only, that made 4 needles size.

Now, isn't it strange that you have two Anns commenting?

How interesting, that they are all together in a little case. I have a few loose ones and I have no idea where they came from. These are a neat set. Happy VTT!

What a wonderful treasure!!! I've been knitting and crocheting since I was 12. Mom is 86 and still knitting for the nursery at the hospital. and then there are all her "great" grandchildren now who receive her treasures!!! Wishing you a wonderful day!!! Cathy

Just as long as you're not crocheting because you're too crotchety. :)

My Mama did crochet. That is a true
treasure, with wonderful memeories.
I think it is a dying art like china painting.

I have a similar set, but picked mine up at a garage sale. Yours is nicer and likely got used. Since I don't crochet, my set just sits there looking complete and pretty.

My grandmother taught me to crochet on small hooks like yours. I've never seen them in a set....so special!

Those are fabulous hooks and I bet they work so much better than the lightweight ones they make today! You are lucky to have been given such a great gift! Happy VTT!
