When it came time to do a post for today's
Sepia Saturday
I did not have a photo to use.
As I was looking online for some ideas and begging my muse to help me come up with an idea, it happened.
I wished that I had a photo of my grandparents farm where I had so much fun while growing up.
I remembered that I had a sketch in my sketchbook of the farm
Lone Oak Farm
and had the capability to make that sketch into a sepia photo.
This sketch shows the farm where my father grew up and where he lived when he married my mom.
It shows the Lone Oak, house, the barn and the root cellar which was my favorite place.
My gm kept the milk there and we made cheese and butter and cottage cheese.
I can still smell that root cellar and it will probably remain the most favorite spot of my entire childhood.
I loved to spend time in that barn too.
My gf would let me ride the old mule as he would plow.
I could hardly get my legs across his wide back.
My mom was scared for me to ride that mule, but no way was I gonna give it up.

Check out some of the great posts and maybe next week you may decide to join us.
Happy Birthday
Beautiful, beautiful, baby.
Sweet 16 today.
Sweet Hannah
Love you Papaw and Mamaw

Firstly Peggy thank you for your love sent out about the floods..
God is so gracious and good. I am blessed to have met lovelt friends like yourself.
Looking at the drawing above I thought how great to see something drawn in love and to be looked back on with an adult heart. You would remember all the secret fun places like that cellar.. how wonderful and so priceless. xxx
Where there's a will, there's a way - well done!
Do you have sepia pens in your art supply stash? They would be handy to have for Sepia Saturdays. Neat idea to turn the sketch sepia. Love my old cellar even though it is not usable.
A fantastic sketch, I hope you have it or a copy framed and displayed. You have shared some very distinct impressions about that root cellar...I can smell it!
A lovely sketch and beautiful story to follow it! Thanks!
Grandparents are truly to be Cherished! Thanks for sharing your inspired sketch!
I received your Jan ATC from the Blissful Swap - Gorgeous! Yours is in the mail today.

Did you do the drawing from memory or while you were looking at the farm? Your memories are very inviting - I want to go back to simpler times. Happy Birthday to beautiful Hannah!
If ever proof was needed that sepia posts don't have to be photographs, your post is proof. You take a sketch and you build a memory we can all share. That's what it is all about.
Peggy, your sketch is just beautiful. Happy birthday to Miss Beauty.
Have a beautiful PS weekend.

Such a pleasure to have found Sepia Saturday and get to hear these wonderful memories. It feels like I've gotten to peak through a window here and see a happy simpler time. Thank-you for sharing this.
Such a cute sketch and such wonderful memories. It brought back memories of visiting my uncles farm in Dixon, Illinois in the 1940's.
Barbara (it's my sister photo in the avatar-forgot to change it)
That is so great that you have that drawing. It sparks visuals that aren't even in the sketch but makes the memories to be real again.
sounds like you had such fond memories there. good for you!!
