Last night began the Jewish celebration on
Hanukkah
Happy Hanukkah to all our Jewish friends.
I watched a documentary on TV last night about the celebration and felt such gratitude that we are free to worship in the faith of our choice in this country.
Yes many are persecuted because of their faith, but we are still free to choose.
This is a huge banner that hangs in the Visitors Center when I volunteer each week.
Years ago when I was very young, we were not encouraged to investigate and study about other religions.
Thank goodness that is not the case today.
One of my most favorite movies is
Fiddler on the Roof
which gives a great representation and reverence to the Jewish religion and tradition.
Being an associate of The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth has opened up many opportunities to learn and even meet members of other faiths through the annual Festival of Faith that takes place each fall in Louisville, Ky.
I have heard and seen Buddist rites which were very impressive. Had a chance to attend a Sedar Supper and was allowed to look inside an Islamic Mosque once.
All religions of the world have fanatics that give the entire membership a bad name.

I am so glad you dropped by !
Life has been really different this past year to say the least.
At one point the computer got hacked into ,we had a few virus attacks along the way and somedays google still insists I have no followerers nor do I follow any blogs ?????
We learned yesterday my Mom has Dementia on top of all the other medical issues so this cowgirl is way out of the blogging loop most days ,but I determined that I will not give up blogland .I will just continue on as hit or miss but please know that you have been thought about and lifted up in prayers as well.
I miss your awesome take on life .
May you have the best December ever as we celebrate the freedom Christ has given us :)

I have done a sedar too--very moving. didn't realise it was already Hannukah--so, it;s early this year?!
As for religions, i feel the best way to determine the core of a religion is look at it's founder. Ardent followers will do no better than their leader.
Christ is my lead but so so far ahead of anyone in his example adn power as far as i can see.
Since I have a Jewish DIL, I appreciate this.
Hi Peggy, I learn something each time I visit and I have fun doing it! Imagine that. I love the poem by Ghandhi.. Just awesome isn't it. Hope you're enjoying the season. Tomorrow night we all go to The Nutcracker and Gumbo at our house. I'm excited as since we decided not to shop for all the grown ups we are "re-gifting" and having three or four family night events during the month and it is just amazing. Love you girl, Mollye
