A Grand Social Derby Party and Mother's Day.

What a fun time we had at a family Derby party at our daughter and son-in-loves home.

On the ground floor deck.

BBQ and food galore.

On the back deck.

They love to entertain and decorate for the parties.

 Hubby doesn't go to this party.

He and our son have been going to another party for years.

 My once a year Mint Julip

 Wow I was in the money this year.

 Little folks were entertained in another part of the house.

 Where all the fun kiddy things were.

Finally this little fella gave his GG a kiss.

Then all kinds of Mother's day gifts, flowers, cards, hugs and kisses made for a great week-end.

This bouquet had a purple cabbage flower.
Decided to display in a separate vase to give it room to open wide.
Beautiful.

What touched my soul this week.

Words cannot describe how happy it makes me to see my flowers bloom out.

Purple Clematis

First white Clematis.

And look at the the future blooms. Hooray

Flowers from my daughter for Mother's Day.

Calla lilies

Remembering my mom who passed into eternal life in 1982. She had not known me for 4 years as a result of alzheimer's. 

When I see her next she will remember me and I will rejoice in seeing her remembering me.

Share the JOY Thursday. Loving Lavender

I love lavender.

The color, the scent, the plant.

It reminds me of my mother.

She loved lavender.

She always had powder, soap and/or lotion in the lavender scent.

 

Yes, this is my new lavender plant and yes it needs to be trimmed down.

Because lavender gives so much JOY to me, I am going to let the blooms grow out and make a little dried flower bouquet.

Last week I submitted a new found picture of my mother.

Here is another photo in that group of her.

I am not sure when this was taken. I was born in Nov of 1937 and since it looks like May with the May altar, I can guess 1938. I do know it is of my mom holding me.

The May altar was a tradition of Catholic families to set up a table with a statue of Mary and keep flowers on it during the month of May.

I guess there was a May celebration going on and the May altar had been moved outside.
I still to this day have  May altar.
My statue of Mary with fresh flowers on it each day is just a part of my life.
Mary is my model of wife and mother.
