I don't usually remember to check Alan's blog for a possible theme but I did today.
Trees
Trees
Not an old tree, but a new tree planted in 1998 when we purchased this property.
It shades our private swing site,
Our place.
A Silver Maple which deposits all kinds of whirly thingies in the spring.
Our SIL is a Construction Contractor and he gifted us with our first 4 trees.
Brought them here, planted them and we were tickled but would not have chosen this tree if we had gone to the nursery.
Who would turn down four free trees?
It is a worrisome thing with all those whirly thingies coming down, according to HH.
I love it.
The other tree we did purchase and it is an Aristocrat Pear.
No shade is as beautiful as the shade from a tree.

Go here for all kinds of beautiful things and probably some more trees to look at.

While all those little helicopters can be a pain during spring, the collective cooling power of 4 silver maples is a marvel. They're beautiful.
Love the look of that little hideaway under your tree...
I agree, there is nothing like the shade of a tree, when there is a breeze, there is a lovely sound of the rustling leaves........
What a TREEt!
In my experience the best trees are always free just because they are always some wherever you go. I dont't count those in my garden planted by someone else. The best tree we had, an Atlantic Spruce had to go as it killed everything within its reach. Maples are related to our sycamore - there is one in each of my neighbours' gardens - I swear that all their leaves and the 'whirly' things land where I have to clean them up.
I have a tree that was planted in 1998 to replace a nice storm damaged one. I was very sad to lose the old one and its shade. I always prefer shade to sun when I am sitting outside. The new one is finally giving enough shade to sit in.
Love Silver Maples- especially when the wind blows- and really love your private swing spot..I desperately need one of those-
Trees always stand out most of all for me, but I agree with Jinksy on the lovely secret hide-away next to the tree...I studied it thinking now just how could I duplicate that look?! Great photo, glad you checked Alan's theme!
What a lovely spot to relax in the shade of your pretty trees. I love it!
Happy SS,

I agree with Jinksy, that little place in the shade of the tree looks like the perfect place to write when the muse is upon you.
What a beautiful place in the shade! How do you ever manage to tear yourself away from it? I'm sure I'd sit there and read or crochet all day long.
I envy you your outside shady spot. Beautiful.
I agree with so many of these friends. This is a beautiful place in the shade. My imagination allows me to pretend i could stop by for a quiet visit. Thank you for sharing. love & love, -g-
I grew up in a very old house with huge trees in the yard and they represented so many things to me. shelter from the sun, protection in a storm. beauty, their lovely leaves blowing in the wind, watching the full moon between the limbs......Needless to say, I love trees and miss the ones I grew up with...
Hugs and blessings,
Nancy
I have a compost pile that each year gives at least 6 trees, fruit trees. Right now there are over 20 trees needing to be dug up this fall and planted in buckets. I have now started giving them to friends saying, "I have no idea if it's a peach or nectarine, but hey...it's free."
What a lovely place to sit.
As with you, I was also touched by Larry's mention of photos and trees. Its a great idea to plant a tree with each baby (he didn't say that) then watch it grow, it will always be there, long after we have come and gone. Yours is lovely, and you can keep on watching it grow also. Blessings from Crystal Mary
A beautiful shady place. Here in Lanzarote the sun is fierce, so shade is welcome but in our garden we only have palm trees, and as yet they are not big enough to sit under. I always remember sitting in the shade of a palm at Fort DeRussy on Waikiki Beach, drinking a cold beer - it'll be a few years before I can do that here"
