"Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person's face as you pass on the street: those faces are for you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all these things are for you. There are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing."

O men, grown sick with toil and care,
Leave for awhile the crowded mart;
O women, sinking with despair,
Weary of limb and faint of heart,
Forget your years to-day and come
As children back to childhood's house.

I enjoyed your quote and photo. I was not familiar with this quote before and enjoyed reading it.

The first quote is wonderful - and the photo to match. But it's such a good quotation almost any photo would have been appropriate.
Yes Anne, I am near Gethsemani but this photo was taken at Nazareth Campus. I have read and studied much of Thomas Merton.
Thanks Scriptor, true about this quote. Applicable to almost anything, but this is my favorite photo from my town.
It's amazing how often we look, but can't really see.
Lovely positive quotations.

Nice quotes and beautiful shots as well.
Cassy from Acoustic Guitar Lessons
The first quote is very enlightening and the photo that matches is very pretty. I also like your second quote and the children at play. So joyful.
Wow! The quotes above and within are awe-inspiring. That last picture is perfect for the poem.
great post Peggy! every day is a great day to be alive!!
I hadn't heard that first quote before but believe it wholeheartedly, I always think everything beautiful in the world is just for me! The not so good things I just have to cope with to get back to the good. You chose a lovely shot to accompany that quote, too!
