While doing Friday Shoot Out
I made this mosaic of hats for the theme found in one of our local museums.
Heritage Hall at Nazareth Campus
Today I am sharing it with
Mosaic Monday with Mary.
The top left is a typical bonnet worn by the women of Ky. at the time the congregation of
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth were founded in Nelson Co.
The next picture is of a bonnet designed similar to the regular bonnet to be worn by the sisters.
On the left bottom a hand woven hat of bamboo strips made by the people of Napal where the sisters have missions.
Bottom right the back side.
These are some hand carved and hand painted figurines from their mission in Botswana, Africa.

Those old bonnets with the bit of fabric to protect the neck were a good idea! The woven hat reminds me a little of the cedar hats that the Coast Salish people here weave.
The hats are amazing pieces of history.
the bonnets sure have evolved! love the little dolls and their native attire!
I have always been fond of the "typical bonnet" I love historical clothing.
Those African figurines are beautiful! I'd love to see them in person.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos. Wishing you a blessed week.
