Friday Shoot my Town-theme-Sparkle

I found many things that sparkle but did not know how to show them well on the camera.

The strobe light where our town roller skates.

GD's rings.
Yes I dared to use Pic Monkey on this one.

A crystal on my flower pot.

My homemade jewelry.

Share the JOY Thursday- Honoring Holly

This week one of our granddaughters received a very special honor.
She is a freshman at a fine private school.
She is a champion basketball player.
Smiles all the time and never meets a stranger.

On Tuesday she was awarded an honor bestowed on a class member called
Model of Mercy.
By vote of the entire class.
Each class has one winner.

The honor is named after the congregation of  Sisters that founded the school
Assumption High School.
The congregation is
The Sisters of Mercy.

Our daughter Rachel, gd Holly and SIL Gregg.

When Rachel called to tell us on Monday she had tears of such JOY that my heart just sang and tears of JOY flooded my eyes.

To be given such an honor by your peers cannot be beat.
It is a large class and many did not know Holly well but well enough to see the example she sets in her everyday dealings with her peers.

Congratulations to all that know and love Holly and to her great  parents.

A big booboo

We had our family fish fry on the lake Saturday.
Some were not there that have been there in the past and some new faces showed up.

Princess Holly doing some corn shucking.

Papaw holding court with all his funny tales.

And the cousins catching up with the new college going grands.

After all the loving folks that are there the favorite thing is the food and the wonderful fish brother Joe just keeps putting out.

Granddaughter Cindy with her cute baby bump,
down front left.

And my big boo boo, I forgot to take our annual picture of us all on the front steps.

Just putting last year's photo on for old times sake.

Nothing beats family, food and fun.

FSO-Blowing in the wind.

Friday Shoot Out
theme

Blowing in the wind.

Our city flag.

A photo of an 8x10 painting I did for an art post a few years back.

Our neighbors US flag, lovely

Our neighbor's trash can, not so lovely.

Not only can you see the corn blowing, because it is so dry, you can hear it rustling in the wind.

Our weeping cherry tree trying to hug itself.

I just couldn't resists folks.
Enjoy

Fashion and a donation too makes for 2 fold JOY

Yesterday I posted about my new dress form that came in the mail and how long I have been trying to buy one that was not so pricey.

Well, later in the day I received another item that I had ordered and am happy to be able to display it on my new dress form.

I absolutely love this sweater jacket.
I do not like a heavy coat on when driving and
wa lah found this extra yarn from an old project.
Probably just enough to make a neck warmer with.

I am pleased with my purchases of the dress form and the sweater but the real JOY that I feel comes from the fact that I bought the jacket from the
Cancer Store.
It is handmade and of course part of the proceeds go to fund research for cancer.
Everyday Facebook has items for sale from many of the research fund sites.

Also mailed my Pink Scarf Project off to Vickie today.
JOY from joining in a handmade item for cancer patients in northern Kentucky.

WOW us Wednesday

I do love to see the UPS truck stop in front of my house.

Yesterday I received something that I have been wanting for a very, very  long time.

A dress form.

Had looked on Amazon, Ebay, Craig's list and anything else I could find.
Yes they had them but they were solid and more expensive than I wanted to spend.

One day I ordered a catalog from
The Lakeside Collection and there it was.

Vintage Dress Form
$19.95

Yes it is fragile but just what I wanted for scarves and other things I may we working on.
Makes a pretty nice decoration for my bedroom for sure.
(The true story is I had wanted it to display my negligee that I bought for my wedding. I still have it.
It is about 7 inches wide and I have never worn it.
I forgot to pack it, you naughty folks.
No chance I will wear it now. LOL)

I keep it in dark paper and usually just hang it up on our anniversary that is why it is still bright and looks brand new.

Still have the same husband too.

Vee's Card Party for Sept.

Vee has made a change in the format of the card party.
Initially she indicated we were to use 4 cards that we had previously posted.

Go to her site and see the new format.

Only 1 photo need have been previously posted.
Others may be from archives.

Just To Say Hello

I wouldn't miss this opportunity, just
to say hello, to tell you that I think of you,
more often than you know. I'm always
happy, to receive your call, whenever
that may be, for it shows, your thoughts,
are also there with me. How nice it is to
hear, you're doing fine and everything's
okay, as frankly speaking, you always
to make my day! Keep those calls coming,
as I know, you will do, as there's nothing
I like better, than receiving, calls from you!

I took so many photos from my visit to my friend's garden that I have lots more to show eventually.
This one was previously posted.
