Photo Challenge for August-theme -summer and Say it Saturday.

Yes summer is coming to an end.
Been a rainy and humid one.
Activities still go on no matter what the weather.

Here are my 5 photos for Monthly Blogging Photo Challenge.

Summer time......

........the corn is as high as an elephant's eye. Can even see it reflected in the fishing lake.

 Visiting a friend's master garden......
...........the hot house where plants stay moist and warm and new rootings will happen in the cold of winter.

Where the late evening fun happens....

.....good friends and a chilled glass of wine so she can make her bottle trees.

Just one of about.......

.......six trees. Gotta drink a lot of chilled wine in the summer garden to make wine bottle trees.

Fresh veggies.....

.......from our son's garden.

Just had to add one more shot of my Knock-out Roses about to hit the dust.
These have become the most popular flower in our town as every home and every business establishment have them in their landscape.
They are beauties.

Share the JOY Thursday

What brought us JOY this week.
We are in good health, comparatively, and the biggest JOY of our lives is the family activities going on.

Big family fish-fry on the lake at my bother's home coming up.

As folks who read my blog know it is football time for us.

Grandson Ben

 4th grade trophy winner.
Age 10
Been playing continuously ever since.

We have been watching him play all those years too.
Seeing him growing and becoming a wonderful young man.
A good student and wonderful to be with.

This year is his senior year in high school.
Scholarships in the future.

A new sports program on local radio asked our Ben to be their first high school athlete interview.

Last night we listened with pride as our Ben spoke to the interviewer in crisp decisive responses to the questions.
He was perfect.
No uhs, ers, you knows, you know what I means.

A real credit to his family, school and community.

Ben with his game face on.
Not his usual grin from ear to ear that we know and love so much.

Everytime he runs onto the field our hearts swell with such JOY and pride in him and his Dad and Mom.
Showed his stuff this past weekend.
Ran oodles of yards and 2 TDs.

He will be 18 one month from today.

We always say a prayer too when the team runs out on the field.

In fact the entire team prays in the huddle.

Of course they can't tell anyone that.

The coach says

"It's not me, it is their idea."

Thank goodness.

WOW us Wednesday

WOW
us
Wednesday.

A linky party for things we make ourselves.

You may have seen this on one of my other posts but I have been wearing these lately and have some new thoughts.

 Made from old sunglass lenses.
Painted with acrylic paint, roughed up, stickons and wrapped with wire to hold a chain.

I love to tackle new things that I see but sometimes after I have done it one time I want to get involved with another project.

Yes I have been wearing these lately and folks just love them.

Next comes

"Why don't you make them and sell them in an ETSY shop?"

I might be willing to make a friend one but put them up for sale?

No way.

I do not like dead-lines or to be on a time-line anymore.
Don't want to mess with money or having to compete.
I am retired and I want to do my own thing in my own time.
Anyone else like that?

Pop over to WOW us Wednesday
and visit for real artists.

Grand Social-Living our lives following the adventures of our grands.

Those of us who can't do all the physical things we once did have a grand time enjoying the adventures of our loved ones.

We love early fall football games. Not so much in the colder months.

This will be our grandson Ben's last year as a high school player.
Things are looking good for college.

Such JOY as we watch our grands grow into adulthood. No matter what they do we will always be so proud of them.

Did not end up getting to go to game as I was not feeling well.
Grandpa went.
Ben made 2 touchdowns helping to win
42 to 21.

Listening to grand Hannah's service week in Belize.
4th in row on Mayan Ruins at  Xunantunich.
I loved hearing about this, been there myself.

Wurth and Holeman cousins.
Our 2 Wurth grands on left
Marge and Bill Wurth's other two grands on
right.

They are big into family and I am so proud of all these girls.

The Two Holeman girls are golfers and very good.

Say it Saturday

Several things to say today.

So disappointed I did not get to attend our grandson's first senior football game last night.
Under the weather.
HH went and watched our grandson Ben make 2 touch downs and they won the game.

Working on a Heirloom blanket for our expected great grandson.

Purchased the Alpaca yarn but it came in a shape I had never worked with before.

Had to look on You-Tube to find out how to get to this.

HH and I doing it all by hand.
He is watching TV while I struggle to get it onto something.
He has a determined look on his face, for sure.

Finally came up with this idea.

 Mixer and toilet paper holder.
Thanks to Home Health nurse experiences.
Learning to work without the usual tools.

Initially ordered 4 skeins, since have had to order 4 more.
Blanket is going to be a little larger than I first intended.
That's what happens with make-up patterns.

Finally finished my scarf for the
Pink Project.
Trimmed it with eye-lash thread.

Now to mail it off to the center for distribution.

Well that is all I have to say.

Emergency vehicles.

Vintage wheelchair.

Maybe not an emergency vehicle in the strict sense of the word but who would want to have to use this unless it was an emergency and it has wheels.

Oops not getting through here.

I had several new shots on my camera, have no idea what happened to them so this is it for today.

Finally had gotten a good shot of the Jaws of Life but I cannot find it.

Parade of police and firefighers  at funeral for fallen canine police officer in our town just a few months ago.

Share the JOY Thursday

Been doing a lot of reminiscing since it is back to school time.

Some off to high school some to college and some off to the working world some starting a family.

Tomatoes forming and growing into their fullness goes along with the concept of watching grands
'ripen' into adults.

Much JOY from those delicious tomatoes and from seeing the grands finding their way in the world.

The circle of life.

Such
JOY
