April Photo Challenge with 'alilhoohaa -theme-transportation

April Photo Challenge

theme
Transportation.

Well starting from the beginning of time the earliest mode of transportation has been man's
own legs and feet.

Driven by the electrical sinus node in the heart, the human body took man millions of miles around the
word before the age of the wheel.

Transportation by animal was next for those who had them available.

We live in Kentucky.
Every family has horses here.
Our son raises
Quarter Horses.

Granddaughter Abby on Scooter.

A child of India, photo taken on a missionary trip to India, stricken by polio still walks like this today.
No medical care for polio there at that time.

Everyday transportation in India, photo taken on a missionary trip to India.

My town is a big tourist town.
Visitors are transported around to the sights by
"Around the Town Carriage."

Keeping the lawn nice is a big thing in my residential part of town.

HH (handsome husband) is enjoying his brand new Cub Cadet as a mode of transportation to keep our lawn trim.

FSO- Sweets or not sweets.

My immediate family are not big sweets eaters.
When our children were growing up they never had dessert except for a birthday cake.

As adults our children and grands always have a girls night out birthday celebration.
Now on holidays meals we always have dessert.
Those girls know all the finest and fanciest fine dining places within a 100 mile radius of our home.

Since I was Dx'd with diabetes I only get the fruit.

Two beautiful desserts from fine dining restaurants,
names I do not remember.
They are obviously professional examples.

As I said I only get the fruit.

Sugar free dessert I made last year for
4th of July family get together.

I choose fruit sans the dip.
It ain't easy folks.

Well I am the spotlighter again so I definitely will not pick any of my pics.
They are all from my archives.

Things are a little more colorful around our yard now.

Grand Social-How to stay married 53 years?

Well tomorrow is our 53rd wedding anniversary.
Been parents for 52 years and grandparents for 33.

If someone were to ask me what is the secret to staying married for 53 years, I would have to say
"I have no idea."

I do know that staying true to a commitment is important to both of us and that belief has enabled us to deal with any issue that has invaded our lives.

We find ourselves with a wonderful family and home.
Freedoms, security, and yes love.

Everyday there is a challenge as we grow old and have to deal with certainties of  aging.

There have been many times when one or both of us felt like

"I can't take this anymore."

Whatever 'this' may have been.

God has blessed us with a wonderful family and faith has been the glue that held us together.

Never look back.
Never hold a grudge.
Everyday say "I love You."

Well I guess that is a little advice.

Sepia Saturday- Odd photos

Just back from my week away and I am feeling a little odd. It has nothing to do with the food (which was quite splendid) nor the drink (which was pleasantly plentiful), I just feel like something a little odd. Take this photograph entitled "Boy with Birds, Goshen, Oregon" (from the Oregon State University Collection on Flickr Commons) - you have to admit that it is a bit odd. But we all have odd photographs in our collections and this week is there special week. Just find an odd photograph, put together an odd post, and post it on or about Saturday 20 April 2013. Then just add your link to the list below and join together with all the other odd Sepians from throughout the world.

Alan Burnett

When I went looking for a photo for today I typed in
"odd couple"
This is what I came up with

Jessica  is only 4ft 10in tall and weighs less then 85 pounds, but has caught a bigger fish then many of us ever will. She landed a 9 foot long wels catfish that was almost 200lbs while fishing in Spain’s River Ebro. Jessica had a little help from her dad, and released the big cat after a quick photo.

On the bottom of the photo I was able to make out

You're Gonna Love it Tuesday

Our little town had 10 runners in the Boston
Marathon.
All are well and accounted for.
Our hearts and prayers are with all involved.

I have to admit I took a hint from another post to display my project.

Making two of these for grands who will attend the same college in the fall.
Size 80" x 44"
School colors maroon and silver grey.

One finished and one 1/3 finished.

Got to admit both thumbs are hurting pretty bad.
Using splints and arthritic rub to help me finish.
