The last day of 2011

When I think about the last day of the year it is a rather nostalgic feeling I have.
Even though things were sometimes hard it is like saying goodbye to an old friend.
Something you are used to. 2o11 we have written for months. Now getting used to 2012 will take me several months.

My favorite memory is our weekend at  my brother's lake home.

But I look forward with a feeling of optimism. All of our loved ones are well and that is the one thing that is the most worrisome to me.
It hurts to see your children hurt or have troubles.
Faith will carry us on as it always has and we will face each day with joy in our hearts.

Happy New Year dear blogger friends.

See you next year!

Cobalt blue and berries, FSO

Had to take photos of my cobalt blue collection of bottles filled with berries before I take all my decorations down.

 Having trouble loading photos.
I could only pull up one photo.

Even the birdies got a Christmas pressie

All kinds of gifts for Christmas around here.
Kentucky blue and white everywhere.

Brother Joe never missed a football game.
Now his ears will be warm.

SIL Linda will have warm hands and can shake her pom poms without even taking her gloves off.

There is no bird feed in this feeder because even the birds got a gift.

The old feeder had sunflower seeds.
HH ran out of those.
The new feeder has regular bird seed and none of the birds have visited.
He decided to leave the sunflower seed feeder empty and maybe they would have to rely on the new feeder.
Not yet.

Share the Joy Thursday with Meri

The joy of being with family and friends, praying together, playing together and  sharing is at the top of my list this Christmas week.

The joy that HH and I get from watching the birds each morning is so calming and readies us for the coming day.

Celebrating Friendship with Ruth is another way to share that joy all around our cyber world.

Having........hot coffee in my regular coffee cup

Thinking.........about all the loved ones we have been blessed with and offering prayers for those suffering around the world.

Feeling........so blessed and resolving to do more this year to ease someone's pain, even in my small way.
(Oops that sounds like a New Year's resolution)

Today's Word

"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But
one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I
press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13 NIV)

Looking forward with Joy to all the great blogging experiences to come to share with you.

Days without a computer can mean more time for loved ones

Whee

Days without a computer while trying to set up my new Kindle Fire did not have to happen.
But it did, so I will forget it.

We had a wonderful three days of visiting, playing, eating and praying together.

I was gifted with, among other things, a Kindle Fire.
I am excited.

Merry Christmas every one

The Work of Christmas
                                       by Howard Thurman
When the song of the angels is still,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When shepherds are back with their sheep,
The work of Christmas begins.
To find the lost, to heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner, to rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people, to make music in the heart.

Friday before Christmas Shoot Out-Theme lights

Well I cannot do all the fancy things with my camera and since it has rained for days, I did a few shots around my house with Christmas lights.

The aroma of sugar cookies and the warmth of light.
Merry Christmas to all my blogging buddies.

Share the Joy Thursday

Share the Joy Thursday

Every year PBS has a fund raising period where special programs are presented and gifts are offered for a donation.
I depend on PBS TV and NPR radio for a lot of my listening and viewing pleasure.

One day I happened on when a mug was being offered for a gift from one of my favorite PBS TV programs.
Doc Martin

I love it. I love British humor

"When I said 8:00, did you realize I meant AM."

"You'd better be dying."

"It's been a long day, take two aspirin and insult  me in the morning."

Doc Martin is not pretty but there is something that endears him to you. At least to me. LOL

Birdworld Christmas preparations?

Looks like the birds are doing their Christmas prepping also.

HH has been kept busy filling up this bird feeder.
He had two but since one just fell apart I am expecting Santa to bring the birds a new one.
One is just not enough.

In Kentucky we can always find a nice bottle for a vase.

Maker's Mark Christmas Frosted Bottle.
Finishing up my Peppermint Foot Scrub for the guys in the family.

Got more time and imagination than money.

A meditative interlude during the rush season

This was sent to me by a dear friend and although it is not typical of the season we are in, in most ways, it does remind me to stop and enjoy the lessons so important in this brilliant production.
It makes me feel as if the world is at perfect peace and care and love are the reason for the season.

Take a little time and enjoy.

Someone will have cute, happy feet.
