Sunday, The 7th Sunday of Pentecost

Announcement
I have 2 Dell color cartridges Series ll for a Dell printer and 1 Dell photo color cartridge.
I got a new printer and already had these cartridges and they don't work on the new one.
Who knew?

If anyone can use them, e-mail me.
e-mail is on my profile and I will send them to you for the postage.
Not sure what that would be but we can work something out.

The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew. (9:27-35)
At that time, as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud: “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” When He entered the house, the blind men came to Him; and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly charged them, “See that no one knows it.” But they went away and spread His fame through all that district. As they were going away, behold, a dumb demoniac was brought to Him. And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.” And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity.

Heal me oh Lord, that I may see the error of my ways.

I will soon enter the 74th year of my journey through this earth.

How blessed I am to have known and served the God of my choice.

My Savior Jesus Christ.

As I sit and ponder the significance of this Gospel it amazes me that in every Catholic Church all over the world the same Gospel has been read on the 7th Sunday of Pentecost for the 73 years of my life.
I attended Sunday mass even as an infant, not knowing what was going on or being said but from about 5 or 6 I can remember every nook and cranny of our church so that means I have heard this same Gospel over 60 times on Sunday.
Now that does not include the number of times I heard it on other mass occasions.
In elementary and high school I went to mass every day.
How many times have I heard all the words of Jesus from the Gospels?
Not enough I am sure.
Each time it is like brand new to me.
I may be beginning to see with healed eyes.

Blessings to all on this beautiful of days.

Sepia Saturday # 85

Well I am late this week and I think I missed a couple of weeks but SS goes on.

A few weeks ago I wrote about
Thomas Clinton Crume,Sr.
from my cousin John Riedel's paternal family history
book recently published and gifted to me and to our local Genealogy Society.
I had chosen to write about Mr. Crume because his photo and story was so typical of what Sepia Saturday is about, if there is anything typical about this great little adventure in blogland.

Martha Baynum "Mamie" Riedel Crume's relationship to the author of the book is
greataunt on his paternal side.

She was born 10/15/1885 in Ky. to
Charles Riedel and Mary Geneva Fritz.
She was one of 7 children.
She married Thomas Clinton Crume, Sr. on June 7 1911 at Mill Creek Baptist Church in Nelson Co. Ky.
She was a homemaker, of course, and manager of the family nursery, serving station and restaurant in Florence, Ky.
She died Nov. 15, 1950 in Kenton Co. Ky.
The earliest record that John has of his family is that of Johann Franz Hyeronimus Riedel born in Kuttelbery*, Austria on Sept 30 1811 and died on Sept 11, 1863. He became an physician and one night on a home call had an accident in his buggy and was killed.
*=Kuttelberg now know as Spalene, as of 1996 all towns in Austria are renamed and located in the country of Czech Republic.
I am working with John to find such stories about his maternal side which would be my paternal side.

I tried to decide what the cause of the whiteness on the photo but I have decided it is the trim on the dress or the sheen of the fabric.

Friday Shoot My Town
Theme
Pink

I found this to be the hardest theme yet to find since no flowers were allowed.
I went all over town.
Ended up checking all the alleys trying to see backyards looking for toys, pink lawn furniture or pillows and cushions.
So

Quite a challenge

Go here for Friday Shoot Out.

Happy 22nd. Birthday
Sweet grandaughter
Nikki

In her sisters wedding.
1st on left Nikki, standing next to her favorite man dad, Cindy and her new husband Jeremy and Jill our first grand.

These three girls are our first three grands, all now women.

Happy Anniversary John and Wendy.

Our daughter Jennifer was expecting Nikki and had done all the flowers for John and Wendy's wedding and had helped us host the rehearsal dinner on Friday night.
Jennifer went to hospital early Saturday morning.
Nikki was born and Jennifer had to miss the wedding.

We all paraded over to the hospital in our wedding duds to visit her.
The next day HH and I were on our way to New York for our other son's wedding which was Aug 3rd.
22 years ago today.

Go NY Mets

As I have mentioned before we have a boy from our hometown who plays for NY Mets.
He has played at Cincinnati  the last three nights and we have enjoyed watching the games, especially since they have won.
Well he is not from our hometown but his dad is.
Daniel Murphy.
Go Mets.

Doing my thing day.

Doing my thing day.

This is my start on my 16 x 20 watercolor
Girl In An Arch

From a picture taken of my daughter while we were in Bermuda.

I made a graph and drew the figure in.
I am afraid I will not be able to get the pencil marks off now since I have put a wc. wash over them already.
Oh well, gotta figure that out.

Messing around with Picnik

Morning prayers and that first cup of coffee

Upon arising this morning the house was very quiet.
Well not completely quiet. The AC was going full force.
We had one day of relief from the high humidity and the high dew factor they call it.
HH was still sleeping.
He used to get up so early that I guess he just enjoys relaxing and rising whenever he wants.
I am glad for him, he deserves that.

Dear daughter is  working the second sift at the VOA family shelter where she is a case manager and does not have to be there until 12 noon.

As I sat on my deck and admire my flowers, since I had finished my usual morning prayers, my mind turned to the horror and misery that the dear folks in Norway are going through.
Last night I heard a discussion on a headline in one of the New York newspapers.
Fox News was talking about the fact that the newspapers had called the man who did the attack in Norway as a dangerous Christian fanatic terrorist.
An oxymoron, according to the reporter.
This man cannot be Christian and do what he did.
Sound familiar?
He said his goal was to keep Norway from filling up with Muslims.
It reminded me how we just label folks and the newspapers are the most guilty right now.
However, the Muslin Jihadist  state right out that they are terrorizing non-Muslins in God's name.

Life in my little neck of the woods.

When I came back inside to
write this post, there was a robin singing right outside my window.
Just as happy as can be.

Today I will focus on the goodness and peace that God has blessed our family with and keeping all those who are suffering in prayer in my heart, give it all to
God.

Matthew 9:36
"When he saw the crowd, he had compassion for them, because their problems were so great and they didn't know what to do or where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd."

It was extremely hot here in Ky. today.
A sudden downpour cooled it down a lot.
Thank goodness for rain.
My prayer is that all those areas that need rain get it NOW.

Week #11
Starlet Challenge this week is
Alice Faye

Although I remember her from TV for some reason I can't remember seeing any of the movies listed.

This picture of the Movie magazine of the day reminds me when at about age 12 or 13 me and my friends hobby of the day.
We would each buy a different magazine and tear out the full page photos of all the stars and swap them amongst ourselves for our favorites.
I can remember having stacks of colored picture of the stars.
Great memory.
She was really into rearing her children as stated in all the info I researched and at times stepped out of her career to do that.

My favorite photo.
The girl next door.

Miracles of nature

The miracles of nature give such joy.

Always get a happy feeling when I see the hummers around.
They are so fast it is had to get a good picture.

Took about 10 and this was all I got. Guess that is good since I can just delete the ones with no birds.

May we all show His love and forgiveness to each other today and everyday.
